Hull (a) Post Match Thread

If you judge the best player by his on field antics , then Yaya is right up there but you have to consider the overall impact a player has on a club on field and off field making the headlines for all the right reasons and how he represent the club . So i would put Merlin alongside Colin Bell i couldnt choose between them , a magician and a King on the field of play and both Princes off the field . Yaya has brought too many embarrassing headlines and dragged the clubs name through the mud too many times thanks to his agent , so he will be considered a great City player , but never the best for me.

Still yaya for me, we wouldn't be where we are now if it weren't for him

King yaya

wtf are you talking about..takes it to the next level, that's 1980s football, if that's the football you want I suggest you watch the Watford v palace game, there is no way that is going to happen until pep leaves, maybe you would prefer big fat Sam as the manager. ?
And the big fat fuckoff award for totally misunderstanding goes to you.

That's some pretty hardcore spin. Yeh, we weren't shit in the beaten-at-home-by-Bury sense of the word, but for 70 minutes we were pretty fucking poor considering the talent at our disposal. Slow, endless recycling of the ball backwards, and creating next to nothing going forward, and the usual difficulty dealing with corners/crosses and long high punts downfield. 2nd half was better in terms of the additional space we created by drawing them on to us, but until the penalty I couldn't see us scoring any more than I could them
I kind of agree, but I do think all that passing of the ball hurts the opposition considerably, especially when they are just trying to keep us out, and if we get ahead then we usually go on to any easy win. But, and its a big but with our defending this season, it leaves us open to some sort of smash and grab, if we don't score first, and the number of times we've conceded first this season is still a worry, and yet again we nearly got done with their only decent goal effort.

I thought we were painfully slow on Monday, especially first half, but in the end it was a routine win, probably without taking a huge amount out of us. We all want to see a bit more flair, but for now I'm happy to take the points we were struggling to get only a couple of weeks ago, as it will help build confidence and momentum.

I hope we can raise our game on Saturday like we did against Arsenal, and be solid defensively, an away win there would be a significant result.

Although neither played particularly badly, I thought the slowness of the Silva-Clichy combination was the source of our endless recycling. Even the De Bruyne effort that hit the post took everybody by surprise, mainly because we’d just wasted a 2 v 1 overlap.

On numerous occasions in the first half, we switched the ball quickly from the right, ( De Bruyne-Yaya-Otamendi) to Clichy in acres of space, only for the move to break down after a slow return pass from Silva

Also, Pep’s Barcelona scored dozens of goals, not dissimilar to Iheanacho’s effort on Monday. (or some of our earlier efforts against Bournemouth and Stoke) Those opportunities rely, not just on intelligence and execution, but also the willingness of players to bust a gut to get into the right position.

It was a precise pass from Silva, but he seemed strangely reluctant to sprint without De Bruyne pointing to the space.

It was pretty good pointing, but not the best we've seen in a City shirt...

It's as if Silva doesn't know what to do without a point from Dr bruyne. Off camera he even pointed where to pass it and at what pace. He also pointed to Silva for his pass to sane v arsenal.

A good point well made.

It's becoming commonplace,I was talking to my lad about it. On the downside it is depressing he has to do it but on the other hand it makes me wonder how good he is going to be, another Cruyff in the making?

The reference to D Silva was a little tongue in cheek as I believe he has a footballing brain as big as a Rottweilers faeces. That is big.

But Dr bruyne is not city's best ever pointer. Older blues will remember GARY MEGSON. Now that man could point like a Bombay traffic cop.

I was in no way trying to delegate Snr Silva,he is a City Legend but merely point out how the rather young KDB has developed into a playmaker, to the point where he seems to have assumed the respect of more senior players.

As to the size of the average shit of a Rottweiler I cannot comment knowledgeably but I am happy to post pictures of my Bassett's shits which are not to be sneezed at.

No problem. I was a tad worried other more sensitive posters may conclude that in some way I was having a dig at el maestro.
If you ever do come across a rotties turd you will instantly recognise it. Leave the bassets e.g. to my imagination ta.
