Gabriel Jesus

I don't recall him getting booked at the Olympics? Do you have any stats to back up your claim re: G Jesus, or was it an attempt at humour and a dig at Fernandinho?

I didn't say that he got booked. I said that he's got a petulant nasty streak (which in itself isn't a bad thing), that included two retaliatory kicks in the Final, not seen by the Referee.
He's also gained a reputation for theatrics, which will hopefully stay in Brazil.

No need to have a dig at Fernandinho. His recent disciplinary record speaks for itself

He doesn't take any shite, he's a fighter, he will get in an opponents face if need be if they try to test him and yes these are good qualities. He's not a head butt waiting to happen kind of guy just a small ish guy who won't back down when players try to get the best of him. As for the theatrics, it might come in handy since we aren't doing enough to get these refs to call fouls for us, but as mentioned by someone else they are necessary in Brazil since their refs are on the same level or worse than the ones in the PL.

I mentioned this on twitter but did anybody else know that Yaya does full pre and post game interviews in Spanish? Last few days ESPN Brazil have been talking to Yaya and asking about how he and the team feel about Gabriel Jesus and he's done the interviews in Spanish translated to Portuguese.

Also the red tape seem to be listed as work permit related.

Can we please try not to build up sky high expectations on this lad? My prediction he will soon be seen on the pitch, starts well than fade to gain form again end of April. Next season he will be much better.

Remember at 19 this is his first transfer going to a complete different part of the world. And the PL is by far not the easiest league to start. In January ! I just hope he succeeds with us and expect to see the best of him in 1 or 2 years time.

Wise words.

I'm gonna build him up and say he might even be better than our last striker signing in January. THAT good.

Tim Vickery doing his best to paint him as a diving, gobby little soft arse on 5Live and Talkshite.
We're going to have to protect him on and iff the pitch.

He's pretty much Messi. I don't know why people want to play it down. 2 goals per game seems a reasonable expectation.

Yeah the hype is getting a bit crazy,I think he'll need the first 45 minutes or so to settle in before we start expecting big things from him tbh.

i think he'll be better than aguero after 3.5 games, and will be the league's top scorer. If this doesn't happen, i want him sold to Gillingham by June.

I would not want to rush him in. Aguero is fit and rested - Sterling is playing well and Sane / Nacho are also pushing for game time. No point rushing this lad in on the back of a hectic season. Give him some time to settle in and get some training with the squad under his belt.

The thing about Jesus is, that even if he doesn't start scoring loads straight away, he's a serious footballer & a real fucking grafter, a fighter.

He's got himself the job now of No 9 for Brazil, but some of his best performances were prior to that, when he played out wide. He's fast, tricky, intelligent, tracks back like a fullback & gets into scoring positions in the box.

He'd be a huge boost to the squad even if his goalscoring record was below average.

If he settles in quickly, & produces what he's capable of, in any position, even if he doesn't score many straight away, well he'd be worrying the shit out of me if he was playing against us, put it that way.

He is exactly what we need. As is Sane.

I agree. Seems like the reasonable approach. Only thing I would add is that I think we should loan him to gillingham until his contract runs out and then let him leave on a free transfer
