Good post. I'm going to tap out here... You're using logic. That's a rarity for these folks. I've been dealing with these people my whole life and it's incredibly frustrating.
Keep at it.

I am glad to hear it. It astonishes me that people think their beliefs allow them only selective empathy.
I am a Christian, therefore I'm good.
No. Acting in a way the Jesus of the New Testament would, that's the ticket.
Would he stand by?
If you say you believe in him can you show me anything he says that would allow you to create a mindset that blamed the poor for being poor? The hungry for being hungry? The sick for being sick? To allow you to vote against providing health care free at the point of delivery for your citizens? To allow 30m of your fellow Americans to have no cover? In the US, not some poor country.
Jesus has been turned into a right wing capitalist in the US.
Unless they have a different bible then I would advise they reread it and then ask themselves do I really follow this guy, or am I taking the piss?
I would say the latter.
I would maybe recommend starting with this.
Matthew 25:34-36 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, "Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."
That seems extremely conclusive to me how he would view the world.
In Obama's term - has poverty got worse or better in America ?
Trumps piss and wind trash talk isn't what bothers me, it's the hawkish, xenophobic, racist, homophobic, mysoginistic, climate denying cunts he is appointing into senior roles, that will ultimately probably get us all killed.
Gets my vote, man of the people. Get rid of the PC shit and tackle some of the other mainstream injustices like paedos, famine, jobs. The PC bleeding heart look at me's are why we look for change. Half those cnuts want to think of humanity and not there own agendas. Not saying Trumps the answer but I for one am sick of some of those mentioned, selfish selfish people who contribute naf all out of their own little party.
Strongly put, but you make a good point. There has been an awful lot of foot stamping and dummy spitting of late, both
here and the US about perceived unfairness in the voting systems, although losing candidate supporters never had any problems
with the systems prior to the vote. Applying this grievance to the UK elections would certainly shut the fucking SNP up,
they have 54 seats in the British Parliament with a voter total of less than one and a half million, UKIP have one seat with
a voter total just shy of four million. Which, applying this butt-hurt logic, means that Nigel Farage is 3 times more popular
than Nicola Sturgeon.
But we know that anyway ;)
But inherited wealth is unearned wealth, no blood, sweat and tears were shed by its recipients. Your model of rugged, against the odds individualism falls flat on its face as soon as your hard earned cash is passed on to your progeny, replaced by wealth and advantage by dint of birth and not by merit.
That's why your model of society has never caught on, it purports to mirror reality, but it breaks down very quickly.
Anecdotal, bootstraps, conservative bullshit!
Good for you...you had a good upbringing. So, what to do about those that didn't get good parents, or live in a small town, or who have been discriminated against their whole life?
And, while we are on the subject, do you own a home? If so, you pay waaaay more than 4% locally in taxes? Sales tax? Property tax?
No Social Security: So, what do you do with the indigent when they get to 67? Which part of "social" do you not understand?
Pro-Life: So, you are in favor of making it illegal to have an abortion? So, what if my wife or daughter has one? What's the penalty? Jail? Fine? What about rape and incest? How do you propose you can force someone to carry a baby to term? No one I know is "pro-abortion," but almost everyone I know is pro-choice. Btw, why is that Republican cans love to tell women they have to carry a child to term, yet they could give a fuck about the health and welfare of the kid once it is born?! Oh yeah, it's all that cockamamy RELIGION bullshit that is constantly pushed on people in a supposedly "separated" state.
Lastly, you need to read up on your Constitution and what is and is not States rights, and what the Constitution does and does not cover.
Obama may be the best President of your lifetime, but you may not understand that until you are too old to care.
Good luck to us all.
Edited for accuracyhis last 6 years can pretty much go away with one stroke of President Trump's crayon. .
At what point did I say I wanted abortion to be illegal? I never once said that. In fact I said just the opposite. I have my opinion and I'll live my life according to that. But I am not going to tell anybody else that my way is the only way or the right way. However if the Supreme Court were to over rule the Roe V Wade, it wouldn't make abortion illegal. It just would open it up for states to make their own choices. Sure, you would have some states like Alabama and Oklahoma that make it illegal about 5 seconds after the SCOTUS repeal. But I never once said that I believe it should be illegal.
Yes I own a home (as I said in my previous quote). For 2016, I paid under 2% local taxes (city and county) and paid just under 4% to the state (Missouri doesn't have a state property tax). You are correct that Sales tax blows that up. However about the only thing I pay local sales taxes on are food and fuel. Almost everything else I buy online to avoid those taxes.
I never said that what my beliefs of the way things should be fits with the way of the world or the Constitution. But I'm a realist and I know that most of those things aren't going to change. But that doesn't mean that my opinions are wrong for me. If I grew up in on the west coast, my views would likely be different. But they are what they are because of how and where I was raised.
By this time next year, Obama will have the smallest legacy in the history of this country. Because of the way he did things, which was almost exclusively through executive order instead of trying to find any common ground with his political opponents, his last 6 years can pretty much go away with one stroke of President Trump's pen. So how exactly could Obama ever be considered the best President? I personally don't believe historians will rate him very highly simply because of his long term ineffectiveness.
Lastly, did I ever say I was a Republican? I'm not. I'm a registered Libertarian. I've voted Libertarian in 3 of the last 5 Presidential elections.

Was there another loan that Ted Cruz FORGOT to file. Goldman Sachs owns him, he will do anything they demand. Not much of a reformer!
I doubt Obama's long-term legacy as described in the history books will be anything but positive. First African-American president, leader as nation emerged from what was very nearly a Depression to a huge economic expansion, killed Bin Laden, huge move with the ACA (even if scrapped) and had no scandals. Comparing him to this utter fucking flake who's followed him only enhances that perception.
You might be right. There will definitely be some positives. However they don't tend to give credit for things that don't last. As far as a huge economic expansion, he's the only President to never have a single year of 3% growth. Considering he was a two term President, that is a tough one. Also foreign policy has not been a great strength of this administration. Sure there are a few good things, but there are also some really big negatives or potential negatives. I've seen people say he will rank somewhere between 5th and low 20s.
I don't think I disagree too much with the list the Washington Post put out a couple years ago. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...udged-most-over-rated/?utm_term=.afa52791d61e

It's difficult when housing remains a minuscule percentage of GDP. That's the biggest reason -- a completely anemic and cyclically atypical recovery in residential construction. Less need for new construction given the supply overhang and disappearance of mortgage finance. Who's to blame for all that is another thread!
Interesting list -- l'd switch Reagan and Clinton though. Much tougher set of economic and global challenges for Reagan.

He is the man of the people. His battle to challenge the establishment comes from setting term limits to Congress members, removing the power of lobbyists, battling illegal immigration which even Republicans weren't serious about thanks to big money donations to their campaigns, and opposing particular concepts of free-trade that are harming the average American. Assigning successful business people to his cabinet who know what regulations harm economic growth is the way to go. It's better than Obama's reliance on people with degrees from Ivy Leagues who know little about their department.Yeah but he's a real 'man of the people' who's gonna crush the establishment elite. Oh, hang on a minute...
