Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Players getting older and slower?

Just how life is unfortunately.

That and the fact they are on contracts.

Please dont ask me for a source ;-)
Think it was the size of their contracts too, they had no incentive to leave without a big wagecut so have seen their contracts out. I think seven are out of contract this summer. It was impossible to buy fullbacks without any leaving, same with Toure. Kompany was given another year too so thats another squad place for different reasons. All positions that will be sorted this summer.

Correct, oldest squad in the league after 300m net spend in 2 summer windows. Some achievement ;)

How did it get to that though. After the investment made?

Piss poor planning by Txiki and Co.

No matter which way you look at it we have not got a decent return from transfers for the amount of money we have spent. We have spent big money, almost £100 million alone, on Bony, Mangala and Jovetic in recent seasons and they are nowhere to be seen now. Mediocre players like Fernando, Navas and Delph haven't really added much to the side either.

Txiki's track record so far is hardly encouraging but I fully trust the board to get it right this summer. The consequences of not doing so could be huge.

£300M these days is fuck all mate.

Its been spent largely on young players with huge potential but more importantly, players that i think pep wanted and signed off on.

Like it or not though, players had contracts they where not prepared to give up and who can blame them?

Those players are gone though come the summer so we can no doubt spend even more and i hope to fuck we dont waste a single penny because you will need a new keyboard ;-)

I agree with what you're saying but you have to admit our transfer signings have largely been very mixed. Will be interesting to see if we can finally match the windows like the one pre mancini's title winning season. We need 3-4 brilliant signings in the summer.

Net 300m is fuck all, you can't be serious?

Modern day PL?

Deadly serious, its fuck all and with every passing season it will look more like small change.

Fuck me cookster, the Chinese are paying that a week in wages alone right now so what do you think the richest league in the world will do to combat them?

I would say based on our turnover of less than 400m, that's a significant sum.

Our turnover is only going one way as well and the money we will spend will not be a problem.

Welcome to the modern day PL where cash is king!

Do people know that we just couldn't buy a new team because of the new premier ffp rules regarding wage increase! So we all the high wage players still here we couldn't bring in all the high end players on top wages in the last few years ready for pep.

But if we sell or release a load of old high earners and buy young quality there shouldn't be any problem?

Agreed.

I will say that I am slightly worried about his ability to get players playing for him.

That won't be a issue when he gets the team he wants though.

Sad to see so called blues turning on the manager who's inherited an aging squad who don't have the legs nor the ability to do what he asks on a regular basis. The guy needs time and a number of windows to get the right personnel. He will make mistakes along the way as we've seen with Bravo but thats part of the journey he and the club and fans need to travel. As for people demanding the execs to get binned, most haters couldn't run a bath let alone run MCFC/CFG. The press are desperate for him to fail and so are opposition fans and so called expert pundits. Why is that?
Fear. They are shit scared that when it all comes together we will blitz this league with attractive, decisive football which will be a joy to watch. I for one can't wait and it will be worth the wait.

Keep the faith.

Hope it's true will put to rest the claims Pep is "cracking" and show he's determined to succeed as some us have already said, he also said he needs more time, perhaps more time than he realised to get it right, a lot of that could be down to our transfer and contract dealings before he arrived.

As much as I like Yaya I hope he doesn't sign an extension he should leave on a high and the wages he's on could be split across two new players hopefully, Pep will know what he needs and have far more room to manoeuvre come the summer with all the outgoings.
