Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Ok. Show me what Pochettino has won? And what guarantee can you give me that given all the money in the world, he would be an instant success? I might have dreamt it, but I'm sure his team completely lost it's bottle when they had a great chance of winning the league!

As for Koeman, he's suddenly flavour of the month because he beat us with four breakaway goals, whilst only a couple of weeks ago, his team meekly surrendered to Liverpool, Hull and Leicester! Yeah let's get him in.

FFS.

My major is finance, therefore the ROI ( Return On Investment) is the best indicator for success imo.

We have invested a a lot ( Transfer fees + salaries) , and these investment should be converted to points.

The more you invest, the more points you should get.

Tottenham Net spent this season was 32 Million only, while City Net spent was 162 Million.

In addition to that our salary cost is higher than Spurs, therefore we should be way ahead of them in terms of results.

I know the season is far from over and we can turn it around and hopefully our players will.

So then to this mornings gossip columns,250m war chest, that should be able to sort a few problems out,if true and spent wisely, even Pellegrini would have spent that wisely wouldn't he ?

Not necessarily ,just because you are old doesn't mean you are wiser.

True, but in life and experiences, generally the older you get,the wiser you get,I mean look at some of posts on here by some, and yes I'll include myself in that, will look back in years to come and think, you know what.................

If this is true then it's brilliant news!

I'm very doubtful he'd be willing to extend after just one season if he hadn't been given the green light to do something pretty ground breaking!

After Khaldoons review of last season stating top 4 was the very minimum, it also suggests to me the hierarchy have seen enough and the wool can't be pulled over anyone's eyes anymore! Whilst most of us City fans have seen the team and the club in a much worse state then this, I imagine in the minds of the owner and khaldoon this is as low as they are willing to let it be!

After Sunday we all needed some kind of boost and I think this is it! I just hope this indicates a proper clear out, one that's been long overdue.

I know what you are saying but don't really agree. You can't look at return on investment for players in such a short term way when they have signed contracts over years. Spend is also determined by necessity and if we release 6 players at the end of their contracts due to age, we need to replace them and spend money to do so. It doesn't mean that we will necessarily get better players but younger ones with hopefully more future potential.

We bought a number of young players this season perhaps more for what they will hopefully become in the future, rather than players that are of immediate great benefit (Sane, Zinchenko, Moreno, Stones, Jesus etc). We also know that for some players it may take them a while to settle and adjust to the PL. Plus we know that British players like Stones are going to be overpriced but we need to have a certain number of them. We have lost Gundogan to injury as well.

Against Everton the only new players from that spend that started were Bravo and Stones and even Stones hasn't been an automatic first choice this season. Hopefully we will get greater benefit from the players we signed this Summer in the future.

We should look at the what the players in each team are worth at the current time and I'd guess that Spurs' starting 11 at the weekend would probably have a higher value than our 11 if they were all to be put up for sale.

This highlights again how poor the recruitment since 2012 has been.

Delph , Fernando and Navas are all likely to start of get some game time if available but carry little weight in the transfer market and all of them are likely to leave in the summer.

Its cost us a lot more to assemble our starting eleven and we have the likes of Nasri , Mangala and Hart out on loan.

Of course it is horses for course to some extent and the best sides are just that as it still the case we seem to be more of a group of individuals with some degree of individual talent that fail to jell as a team often enough to instil fear in the opposition.

I looked at our current squad and found it hard to come up with many who Spurs would want to slot in automatically into their starting eleven on Saturday.

What about transition, human factors and the fact that Spurs still haven't won anything (yet)?

My tired brain blended the thread title with the OP's username and I found myself thinking "Wow, 50 pages on Pep's new hairdoo?"

If ROI was the best indicator of success, the most successful clubs would be the ones who spend peanuts and narrowly avoid relegation every year - Watford?

I think you need different criteria for evaluating success at the very top. Like it or not, winning things is a petty good indicator...

Unfortunately thats something quite a few on here OB won`t give him,as we`ve already seen some moronic views about getting rid now.I mean WTF is that all about ?

I can't believe that certain 'fans' aren't willing to give one of the world's greatest managers a chance to succeed at our club.

Unfortunately it's a reflection of the world today and modern culture - people want everything today without any hard work.

Rather than buying into a 3-5 year plan, supporters expect, expect, expect. It just doesn't work like that and letting a coach with Guardiola's pedigree have the freedom to build will almost certainly bear fruit.

I think the other factor that people completely misunderstands is the scenario if madness did descend and City sacked Pep.

The press would paint us as the club that even the worlds greatest manager couldn't turn around and sacked. Stay away from Manchester City if you know what's good for you. Pep has an enormous global reputation and players who wouldn't normally consider a move to us now think we are a destination club. We are already vilified. Losing patience with the man reputed to be the worlds best manager would be manna from heaven for our detractors.

Grow up people. Trust in Pep. Chelsea, Liverpool and the Scum didn't make the Champions League through their campaigns last year. Their worlds have not stopped turning and last time I checked a couple of them are doing rather better this term. We might miss a season of booing that silly anthem, so what. Besides, this champions league 'holy grail' really matters to Costa, Oscar and all the others keen on 400-600k a week in China.
