Messi has been below par this season and still scored three times against us.
TBF most teams have scored 3 times against us. It's not difficult these days.... ;o)

Maybe but I do think many fans are now too impatient for instant success - whereas we used to be more tolerant (rightly or wrongly). I also do not think that players generally don't put in the effort. Sometimes things just don't go according to plan & it gives the wrong impression. Perhaps I'm wearing my blue tinted specs too often!!!
Absolutely spot on - perfectly articulated. An interesting piece and I will give my two penneth on it.
For the fan's who have done the hard yards, the old third division days and cock up and disappointment upon disappointment over those bleak years it probably goes a bit like this. We were taken over and suddenly became the richest club in the world. After years of winning nothing with the prospect of ever winning anything again almost zero, we now had a chance to compete on a level playing field. Our players and the standard of our football improved and we did actually win a few trophies, we were living the dream.....kind of. I will explain.
Everything appeared to be in place to dominate football in this country for the next ten to twenty years. Every pundit seemed to agree that we would and we couldn't wait. After years of watching the other lot pick up trophy after trophy and rubbing our noses in it we now had a taste of how it felt with the boot on the other foot and boy did it taste great! The problem is it hasn't happened. There are numerous reasons for this, a hostile media, FFP, every club getting millions just by being in the premier league, so being able to strengthen in a way they couldn't when the rags and dippers had it stitched up for years, with the champions league money ensuring they dominated the league. So in a bizarre way we felt cheated......cheated out of a golden period we anticipated we could enjoy and revel in.
Fast forward to today. For three years we have been preparing for arguably the greatest coach in world football. Surely this arrival, backed by the billions of the Sheik would now ensure the dream would come true........getting tonked 4-2 at Leicester and 4-0 at Everton, with a defence that appears non existent, a forward line that can't score and a keeper who seems invisible as every shot on target seems to end up in the back of our net has crushed all optimism, rightly or wrongly. All the demons of our shitty past are coming back to haunt us, ''Typical City, we will never be good enough, always be a laughing stock, also ran's!'' Thirty five years of mediocrity have left us mentally scarred whether we like to believe that or not and it doesn't take long for the self doubts to resurface. So for me it isn't 'Self entitlement' rather fear that no matter what we do we will contrive to cock it up just like the old days, that we are indeed cursed and ultimately doomed to fail. The majority of our fan's are still waiting for Jeremy Beadle to pop out and shout ''You've been framed!!!''
In a strange way it was easier being a City fan in the old days. We never expected to win anything so we went for the crack and were proud of our loyalty which was recognised throughout football. Our highlights were turning over the big boy's, especially the rags and a decent cup run. Our expectations were zero so anything resembling success was a bonus. I doubt any football fan totally enjoys following their club as the stress and fear of failure only dissipates when your team is 3-0 up with five minutes to go and coasting.
So we have all of the above added to the bullshit going on with showsec, the club not appearing to listen or discuss issues with fan's except for endless bloody survey's in the form of an e mail and we are where we are. We have always been a strange breed us Blues, we had to be or we wouldn't have stuck around so long. If we feel the club don't give a fuck about us, or even worse want us out to be replaced by a happy clapping spend more fan relishing the 'Matchday experience' it won't take much to tip us over the edge. So that part is a two way street too.
As for Pep I think he will get it right but I feel 'Backing his entire reputation and career' on doing the business for us is a bit OTT. Every manager does that in every job he takes on. He is being paid handsomely for doing so and backed by the richest owner in world football with some of the best facilities in the sport, he has to succeed surely?
When we sunk to the depth's of what was the old third division the club got down on bended knee pleading with us to to stick with them and we did, as we always would with or without the plea. It has been a while since as a fan base we think they feel the same about us anymore and this is creating division and unrest. It would just need some words from the chairman and/or manager to galvanise the whole club and fan base to unite again, as Blues we love nothing better than a ''It is us against the world'' cause, come on let's get back to where we were as a fan base and watch us take off!

The owners bank balance is irrelevant with UEFA/PL FFP. This type of incorrect comment contributes to those who say we could've dominated as they must've felt HRH would've continued to chuck money at it whilst running at nearly £200m worth of losses per year. I heard lots of blues at the time chatting bollocks about world domination, let alone English domination. Thanks for the positive comments, although I know I will get as much stick as plaudits lol! I just gauged the feelings I hear at matches and the pubs along with how I feel myself and having been on this ride for 48 years I have seen the best and worst of our great club and fan base.
@Machiavelli, I believe.....just me of course and some pundits, that we were in a position to dominate and stride away but we missed it in 2012. We have the richest owners in the world, but if you take just our assets and revenue we are not of course the richest in football...yet.

Maybe some of our supporters got carried away after 2012 - when we won the league on goal difference with virtually the last kick of the season. Did they really think the Rags/Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs would just concede and watch us run away with things? There is no evidence at all to suggest anybody would have, or will dominate any time soon.
You should either stop listening to bollocks on here from a few posters or ask them to qualify why they feel that way.Yet some on here think we will dominate football "and become the best team in the world" with Pep in charge, quite a few have said it on here in the past two days-so why is it any different under Pep? Will all other clubs just stand still while we go for World domination?

Well if you didn`t bullshit in the first instance there would be no reason to apologise.
There's been some quality posts over the past few pages I think.
I can't remember who it was (sorry) but I was having a good old moan a few weeks back and the person said, "does it REALLY matter if we don't win the league?" At the time, the prospect was a lot more tangible than it is now, BTW. Anyway, I sat back and thought about it and came to the conclusion that no, it really doesn't. If we don't win it this year or next year or the year after that, it will be a little disappointing but it really doesn't matter. So long as we are building a platform, a dynasty. I want people to look back in 30, 40 or 50 years time and recognise us at the club with 5 or 10 CL titles and 10 to 20 league titles. A club comparable in stature to Real Madrid. For me, that's what the project is all about not the odd PL title here and there where we limped over the line. Losing 4-0 to Everton does have me wanting to top myself, but really, in the great scheme of things, its almost irrelevant.
Pep may conceivably prove to be inept, or at least a great disappointment and underachiever. I think that very unlikely, but it's conceivable. But I for one am not concerned nor motivated by our short or medium term performance. If after 3 or 4 years we are no better off then fine, perhaps a change of course is needed. But until then I'm giving him my full support.
You don`t have a sense of humour do you ? Still awaiting your response to my questions but you keep trying to make me forget them,by posting other drivel. It was a mistake, not bullshit as we have the joint 18th oldest squad from 20 teams. Unlike some I'll always acknowledge a mistake.
You keep posting childish comment's about Cook and Mancini pyjamas and I'll act like a grown up.
Anyhow you named the committee members last night so I'm happy you know your stuff.
He`s as near as.Id like to agree with you mate but Peps not invented the fucking wheel ! 5-10 CL titles , a club on the same level as Real Madrid? Why? Will Real Madrid stop playing football for the next 30 years?
What Pep is doing isnt that groundbreaking-its men passing a fucking football to each other-hes not building a bridge over the Atlantic Ocean.
Its this that makes me laugh about it all-Pep is good but hes not the be all and end of football.

And thats probably why the hierarchy want to give him an extension. He`s convinced that the job is bigger than he originally thought, but there`s nothing wrong with that,if that`s his concern. However I`ve said it for ages that I wouldn`t be shocked if he stayed way past his original three year stint. We have all these youngsters he`s identified as potential regular first team players in the coming few years and he may want to build a squad of the same ilk.Wonderful news, but I agree with your sentiments that if its not working after three years then maybe the time will have come for him to move on.Personally I think we`ll see a superb Pep team, not a team of cast offs from other Managers, but that happens at every club. There's been some quality posts over the past few pages I think.

Apart from the dominating for 10/20 years bollocks. What stopped Chelsea dominating after their similar investment/takeover? And we've got a rich owner, we are not the richest club by any stretch. Not even in this country.
