Claudio Bravo - 2016/2017 performances (continued)

I think it is fair to say that we haven't seen the best of him and he needs to improve

A clean sheet and/or a match saving performances will do him and the tea the world of good. If we ship 3 or over(again) then I think taking him out of teh firing line will be best for all concerned. Hopefully, it won't come to that

I thought I'd debunk the myth that he's cost us by listing all the goals where he could have done better, but it's really backfired because there's a lot more than I thought:

Ibrahimovic vs Manchester United (Stones partly to blame too)
De Roon vs Middlesbrough (This goal absolutely cost us 2 points)
Wickham vs Crystal Palace (Debatable)
Willian vs Chelsea (Arguably cost us long-term)
Vardy vs Leicester (Again not clear-cut his fault)
King vs Leicester
Mee vs Burnley
Mirallas vs Everton
Lookman vs Everton

9 goals. In my view, four points.

Plus the sending off that destroyed our game against Barcelona away, although I personally doubt we'd have gotten anything from there anyway.

In my opinion, 3 - 5 goals at most. Not sure its fair to say that he alone yas cost us points though.
I reckon if you did the same for Clichy you'd get the same amount of points. And Otamendi, and probably Stones would be near there too.

To be honest here, I've defended Bravo and am not a fan of the personal abuse he gets on here. However, I don't think Bill has ever got personal about this, he just has never rated Bravo as a keeper - and has stood by himself for a lot of that time. I just wish Bravo would start saving a some, so that us few (and we're becoming fewer by the week) that are endeavouring to defend him have something to come back with.

All that said, the team aren't performing either, but Blues love a scapegoat and at the minute it's Bravo - and Kolarov when he plays left back!

Scapegoats are usually scapegoats because they are crap.

Neither side can prove anything, what i can see is other keepers making saves every game that he is not,i appreciate your stance but if you are happy you are easily pleased,we both want better so we'll have to agree to disagree

I'm with Karen on this one. The last position Pep had to change at the beginning of the the season was the the goalkeeper. I think most blues would agree there were and are, far more pressing positions in the team, especially the back four to change. I'm afraid as I and a lot of other City fans feared, this decision has come back to bite us on the arse.

I think all said and done it would not do him harm to watch a few games from the bench. He's an experienced pro, not a kid, so it really shouldn't be a problem for him to understand that most players have spells during their career where they need a bit of time out of the spotlight to regain composure and form.

I have absolutely no worries that Bravo was purchased by the club for the right reasons - anybody that believes he didn't deserve to be here can only be suggesting that we should never pursue players based on previous ability. If that was true, every new player would need to be brought through the Academy, and that certainly isn't feasible at this moment in time.

A keeper's role is one of the easiest for scrutiny, and the media and pundits can't wait to justify there oft' spouted claims that international players won't be able to handle the melting pot that is the PL. More times than not they end up with egg on there chin. They did it with the donut thief for a full season, however the club, players and fans didn't cave in to the spewing media. Bravo needs to perform better, that is clear for us all to see. It would be impossible for him not to know this, but perhaps a bit of time out will work wonders.

I'm just a bit sick and tired of all the dog's abuse we keep hearing. Calling any of your own player's a clown or sarcastically clapping, booing or whatever, is detrimental to the team and only serves to stoke the media and punditry frenzy. We are called 'supporters' specifically because that what we're meant to do. We're allowed to be critical, but let's not shoot ourselves in the foot.

There is something not quite right with Kun this season.

Of course. He may have to work a lot harder than he is doing at this present time. Aguero's past Injuries are a major concern which doesn't help with the style of play Guardiola is trying to implement.

Has kun been scapegoated ?

He should be. Missing a couple of penalties as well as the off the ball work Guardiola wants from his players and not being clinical enough aren't helping with our side's poor performances this season.

That's all well and good, but to make your argument stand up, you must surely re run your calcs with how many more we may have conceded if Bravo was not in net and then sum the two, unless you are saying none that is
I'm not saying for a second that he's not made good saves, but I don't feel he's done it often enough to warrant a place in the team over Caballero right now.
Who knows how many of those Caballero would have let in? We'll never know for sure. maybe fewer, maybe more. My personal opinion is that Bravo hasn't played like half the 'keeper he is this season, but Caballero has been solid and done very little wrong for nearly a year now.

If you give Bravo the same amount of time as Caballero then he will look like solid keeper for City as well.

Hardly any goal conceded that way. Unless you mean Burnley when he was fouled?

No, he appeared to be fouled in your opinion. The referee didn't blow for a foul, you just thought it was a foul along with 3 others.

I certainly wasn't screaming for a foul after seeing it again as a city supporter, and I wouldn't have been had I been in goal.

Also for some, there's a difference between supporting a player and giving opinions and views on a forum.
I berate his ineptness on here, I support any player in the stadium. That's what forums are great for oddly enough.
