The fans are bigger at Spurs

That's debatable.

Their support is loud when they are winning. Just like ours was when we were winning against them on Saturday. Their support at home is just like any other PL support at home. Loud when the team is winning, quiet and subdued when the team isn't. There are plenty of times you can hear a pin drop at WHL.

They also have the advantage of an old fasioned stadium, which is very tight and compact, with 4 individual stand, all close to the pitch, with fans on top of each other. That helps an atmosphere enormously. Let's see how they fair when they move to a new bowl of a stadium, with fans up rooted, moved about, and new plastic fans making up a much larger percentage of their support in the new stadium. West Ham being an obvious and very recent example. In their favour they will have a KOP like end. Think it will hold 17k. That will definitely give the atmosphere a boost. That is something we should be looking at with the expansion of the NS, which has gone very quiet.

Good post JRB. I would add (building in your points that we would probably get a louder atmosphere with a 32k capacity because there would be a higher percentage if committed fans at the game.

Some people seem to be taken in by the media on who has a good atmosphere. Anfield is clearly one of the worst in the League if the Scousers aren't winning. Even so, they share the UEFA fans of the year with Dortmund who are on another planet to the dippers. No mention in the UEFA award about Liverpool fans buying tickets in the Sevilla end for the cup final leading to fighting.

Millwall are typically noisier than spurs so does that make them a bigger London club?

I think, in terms of population from which to draw supportt, the top London clubs will always have an advantage over clubs in other cities. This is particularly the case where such a high proportion of the country's highest paid are concentrated in that catchment area.

I would also guess that London has a higher concentration of football-loving immigrant communities with members looking for a local team to support, but that's just my feeling.

Do they look bigger in any way since you've already covered the support? Overseas I'd say we have a bigger following now too but I'm no expert on that... This whole "our club is bigger than yours" is a little bit petty but even still when we humour it we don't seem to give ourselves enough credit sometimes(swallowing too much of what the media tries to portray about City perhaps?).

To be honest mate, I never include 2nd division titles when it come to trophy count, nor Charity/Community Shields. For me it's league titles (top flight only), FA Cups, League Cups, and European trophies. Spurs have more of those than us, but then again Villa have more again and I don't think many people consider them an even bigger club than both us and Spurs.

Very good point that. I was at our game at the New Den in 1998 and even though there were less than 13000 there, I can categorically say that on a pro rata basis Millwall are the loudest set of fans I've ever encountered out of all the London teams.

Spot on mate. I remember going to the Old Den and a young lad getting out of the police escort to buy a 99er. It could have been the most dangerous ice cream in our history!

City have won the English League Division One Championship twice, seasons in 36/37 and 66/67, so that's one more for us and Id wont count the Charity Shield its just one game so its 19 v 22

In the last five games you have gained precisely one point on Chelsea. How nice.

You were shit.

One touch in our box the whole of the first half. Literally the worst currently performing defensive lineup in the League right now and you couldn't make it count. Your all star team were bossed by old timers like Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabaletta, both candidates for China in the Summer. That more of your lot aren't so concerned by such a dire performance, particularly in light of your history of bottling it in the second half of the season, is a wonder.

And that advantage, not unique to City, will show itself as the season continues. If this is your lot at your best, I don't think Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal or even ourselves have much to worry about.

Well if you aren't aiming to do better than being perennial also-rans, then hell, why worry?

You have an error prone defence that, despite their height advantage and the fact the game was one way traffic, couldn't collectively (ie, put together) manage to win more aerial duals, make more successful tackles or time successful interceptions than an out-of-position Alex Kolarov.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Your midfield were wasteful and had some of the lowest possession percentages of a team we've played in months. When you're creating less goal scoring opportunities than fucking Burnley it's time to be a little more humble.

Dembele was your best player on the park yesterday, but even he wasn't on par. Who else was there then? Alli was anonymous until his goal and anonymous after. He had the lowest amount of touches in the first half (7) joint with Kane and contributed only 10 accurate passes the entire game, the lowest of any player on the park except, well, Kane. Walker had a contribution to make, but I'm not sure even you could spin it as positive. Wanyama and Rose weren't impressive either. Where's this great midfield then? On the bench?

Kane's on good form at the minute, but should that stop for any particular reason (and we all know he blows hot and cold) then you're pretty fucked. Again, you were playing against the infamously leaky City back line and couldn't actually get anywhere near the goal for a majority of the game.

Potentially only until Arsenal play.

3 points ahead of us? Top four position not looking so secure now, is it? Oh well, there's always the Champions League.

As well it shouldn't, but there's nothing to be proud about (as many of your lot want to paint it) with drawing off the back of unjust adjudication. If anything, you'd think your lot would be more conciliatory, but perhaps I expect too much of you.

It was one game. All those players you mentioned have been superb this season. Dembele walks into your side mate, so does Wanyama. SO does Rose, Walker, Toby, Vertonghen, Lloris. Kane over Ageuro on form over the last 18 months too. You'd find room for Alli and Eriksen too. Shall I go on? I have no doubts we will finish above you this season to prove that we are the better team.

Error prone defence? hahaha. Check the defensive records for the teams in the league. See who are second and will likely end up the best in the league, (has been all season) until this weekends fixtures.

How with a straight face can you call Spurs defence error prone?! hahaha

Primativ

You have an excellent defence, midfield and attack. Your moving into a new, state of the art, big stadium so things are looking good for you. So what do you think you'll actually win over the next 5 seasons? Win more than City?

Will Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Deli Alli, Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld all stay to earn very modest wages (In football terms) and be happy seeing out their careers at a club that'll more than likely always be a nearly club, nearly winning the title, getting to Champions League now and again with a day at Wembley now and again or will they have a bit more ambition and actually want to make their mark on football or at least have a better chance to?

I'm not being a c**t about it, I'm just seeking an opinion from a Spurs fan about your short to long term expectations and how they'd compare with ours, Chelsea's, Liverpools, Manure's and other clubs around Europe.

I think we are in an excellent place. The new stadium will allow us to move into big boy wages which will further allow us to keep our best players. Also, we will never sell to a PL rival, so our only worry is if Madrid or Barcelona come in for our players. I guess my big worry is if Poch leaves, as he is the mastermind of our current competitive team.
