Fortunately for Mendy his arm is as clueless as his footballing brain.

Mendy didn't try to punch Lamela, he just punched the air in a gesture of annoyance because Lamela was allowed to poke him in the back of the head & foul him about twice more before being pulled up.

I don't think Mendy is confident following his injury and didn't really fancy this pitch-also pulled out of a couple of challenges. May take a bit of time to get to his Monaco level.

Think you could be right, there was one tackle in the first half with Sissoko that looked like he really didn’t fancy it.

He was really poor tonight, the one thing I’ll give him is that he kept going. He was actually alright in the last 10 minutes when we were keeping possession.

He needs to switch on and play with more maturity and focus.

Both him and Kyle have issues with their passing/decision making (Kyle’s pass to Sergio after his run was a shocker). Both need told to defend first and foremost, then keep it simple with their distribution.

Really hope Mendy knuckles down and finds some consistent form, he looked amazing at Monaco.
