PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Reading back - what I said was that they were confident, bullish, and dismissed City’s position as lacking credibility.

That’s still what I’m saying now.

I never claimed this was presented as being based on an informed view of the final judgement from the panel - quite the contrary.

My opinion, as I set out in my first post, was that this would instead more than likely indicate the ruling wasn’t in yet - as has been suggested on several occasions.

Fair enough mate - I can see that, and agree it could be seen as semantically significant.

Truth is - that’s a subjective judgement.

They’re definitely more than senior enough (in my view) to know the result if the PL have already been provided with it.

People are focusing too much on stuff that means nothing. Absolutely nothing has changed for months, the ups and downs in this thread since it started are only down to opinions and speculations (most of them biased).
Of course people at PL is going to say they are confident of their case, they have just spent millions and millions over several years on "investigating" and charging us. Saying anything else, or nothing, would basically be the same as saying they have acted fraudulent. Them being confident means just as little as the club saying they are confident, since the club would obviously no matter how worried they are under no circumstance say they are anything but very confident.
Either party claiming their are confident means absolutely nothing. They have no alternative other than to act like they are and claim that they are. Neither party would obviously say anything but they expect a win and whatever the verdict is the losing side will say they are "surprised" and that it's "wrong".

With that said, I appreciate people like Nicholas sharing what they have heard. Based on the actual facts we know, the outcome of this case is far from certain until we have a verdict.

Obviously you don't want to provide additional context, which I can also appreciate but I think the context makes or breaks my view on what you've informed us. I've been involved in legal matters before and you could have had conversations with senior people within my companies and they wouldn't have had the foggiest what was truly happening. They'd be kept in the loop on matters, but largely they want a thumbs up or a thumbs down. I think on a case like this it's no surprise both sides feel fairly confident and I wouldn't expect the PL to be downbeat. They didn't see the humiliation Leicester brought upon them coming either.

But that’s also clouding their perception of what I actually said - which is that the people I spoke to are confident and dismissed our position, but also that they didn’t know the final results of the judgement.

MEN put out a piece this moning about the whole case, what it means, the charges etc. Could be due to the public interest picking up with a few quoting early October, or could mean that things are starting to move quickly.

It is just a regurgitation of old news. Nothing else to write about so let's remind everybody that city are a bunch of cheating bastards. A bit on what would happen to city if they lost, relegation etc. But nothing on what would happen if the premier league lost.

It’s got nothing to do with you not delivering a message people want, and you’ve been around enough long to know that. It’s also got nothing that do with you being an accomplished poster or having no prior for silliness.

You’ve dropped a post, that on the face of it, could be very significant. Then basically said not telling you owt else. Then switched from “very senior” PL figures to “quite senior”. Then there’s the element of these people deciding to share this with you, a person they don’t know very well, which strikes me as highly unlikely.

Some people will view that as having more holes in it than a rag back four, bollocks or wumming. It’s not melodrama, it’s reality.

The charges were brought in February 2023. Since then analysis has led us to feel quite confident that we know more or less what they are though some of the detail is a little unclear. As to the evidence brought forward by the PL and by the club we are completely and utterly in the dark.

What has heppened today is that someone who has posted on here for a period of 18 years has reported a conversation with two unnamed PL executives, a conversation which he found alarming, and which alarmed many on here. The reaction on here has been largely hostile, but attempts to discredit NvWF are insulting. What he said - ALL he said - is that these two executives were very confident that the PL would win its case and that City didn't have a leg to stand on. If this is evidence of anything it is evidence of the attitude of some PL executives. What it is not is evidence of City's innocence or guilt. It is not evidence that the commission need take account of, and NvWF did not say it was. So much of the analysis the post has been subjected to is perfectly valid, but it doesn't changeanything. We're still in the dark. When I read it I was alarmed, but I still have full confidence in the club, its owners and those who run it.
