Parkrun 245

Haha, that sounds like Cum-Hardy alright! At least you completed it mate. Turned my ankle running over uneven ground in a new pair of trainers midweek, so I was only on spectator duties this morning - and I’d forgotten how little fun it was to do that. Hopefully back on it next week.It does indeed. Quite unique in that respect, but unfortunately quite a congested start as I got stuck behind a group of Chorlton yummy mummies more interested in chatting about what they had with their quinoa last night rather than concentrating on running!
Brilliant stuff mate, what it’s all about, fantastic.Morden parkrun, official time of 34.29. Was aiming for anything under 36. Was awake from 4 am my anxiety finding every reason not to go. I even turned alarm off which had been set for 7.15. I got up at 7 to feed cat and had breakfast. Went for bus as usual which broke down at the first stop. Was about to turn back and another bus turned up. So glad I went now
Bit Random but interesting insight into the mind of a Marathon runner...
I've done quite a bit of running over the years inc 1500 metres races etc,but mainly just to keep fit for Football.
I've never done a Marathon, never fancied it ( scared of the pain !) my good mate who runs the Chesterfield branch City supporters club is about to do one ...good luck Mick, not for me tho .
Just spoken to Mick ..he actually completed his 1st marathon last weekendNor me. I've done a few half marathons and no desire to go further. After my first one in London guy goes you'll be ready to step up to marathon next and I replied I have no intention of completing another lap of that course again even if I could
It’s the first time ive been to Peel when it’s been particularly wet. The top end of the course with the grass was bad. Like you, I will give it a miss in future when rainfall.I've started giving Peel Parkrun a swerve when there's been substantial rainfall in the week leading up to the Saturday.
I've no issues with puddles in that I tend to plod through them rather than avoiding them. However, the football pitch at the top end of the park can get muddy and slippy, especially when churned up by 500+ runners twice.
In the past, they have implemented the "B" course which is all on tarmac, but I don't know how bad the mud has to get before they make that call.
EDIT: I've just seen it's cancelled next Saturday anyway because of a Salford University open day.
Happy Sunday everyone.
We've been talking a lot about injuries recently (sorry - my fault!). So I've put together some thoughts in this new video on the FLF channel. I'd be interested in hearing your views - we've already had some amazing insights from blues in the Facebook group.

Interested as always to hear your thoughts.
I'm hoping that City will cheer me up against The Cherries today and distract me from this Achilles issue for a bit.
I was there last week too. Managed a decent time despite nearly going arse over tit on the gravel path. Powered straight through the puddles on the second lap and that was better. We got there 20 minutes early and it was proper pissing it down. Dead lucky how it stopped for the run weren’t we!Went to Peel Parkrun in the pouring rain. Thankfully it stopped once running commenced.
Time was 30:30 which was ok considering the large puddles and in parts slippy grass.
