Me and millions of others who worry about democratic values and freedom of speech -what happens in America usually has implications for us - the rise of Reform and Tommy Robinson being funded by Musk is a big part of the MAGA movement - small stories may seem irrelevant- much like Jimmy Kimmel being suspended, but there’s a dark bigger picture at play and we would be foolish to turn a blind eye to events in America under Trump.

The BBC are fucking awful so this doesn’t surprise me one bit.
The Trump speech splicing is particularly egregious and is certain to have consequences. During Trump’s first term he spoke about migrants crossing into USA singling out gang members (MS-19 ?) among them as being murderers and rapists. BBC lunchtime ‘Politics Today’ ran the speech but edited out the gang members part, so it looked like he was saying all migrants were murderers and rapists - totally altering the meaning. Cue five minutes of outrage from the panel of guests. Because I’d seen the unedited comments on another news channel I knew what’d been done. Quite shocked at the time.
There’s plenty of damning, truthful material from Trump without resorting to fakery and I’ve no doubt heads will roll. Deservedly so.
