Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

I was just about to say the same. He’d been in Coventry for a Diamond Club dinner (Diamond Club is open to those who have supported Coventry for fifty years or more). We had been at a supporters meeting the night before and the Crewe branch on the way back.We had a cracking night their with some...

Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

I’m not a Blackpool fan but I can understand why they would want to mark the occasion. When the team that won that Trophy returned to Blackpool, 50 000 people were there to greet the open top bus they were on. I think your remarks about other club’s achievements are the same as those some Man...

Also when I asked, couldn’t sell the books in the shop or outside by the stage. Either of which would have made the trip worthwhile.

Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

First of all, Tommy being at the Arsenal game was arranged a couple of weeks ago, just after the draw was made. I spoke to the City guy at that point about selling the books and nothing was said that lead me to believe that this wouldn’t be allowed. Arrangements with the Cheshire branch were...

Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

Sounds like you think Tommy would be going table to table asking if anyone would like a book. In truth what would have happened, because this was what was done at Coventry and will be a Blackpool and Swansea, is that the books are on a table at the periphery of the room. If anyone wants one they...

Someone mentioned this thread might boost books sales, so I might as well try and take advantage. If anyone would like a signed copy delivered to their door please use the link below. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScfard87yfsj-_jL4Kd3YV7M2glykk0m8s5LtTPqznh9sruVw/viewform

The other thing would be that neither Tommy or I would have expected or even wanted anything like this. The tickets were fine, with Tommy being ‘rewarded’ or ‘paid’ for his efforts on stage or in the lounges with the permission to sell the books.

Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

You say wined and dined but as far as I am aware there was no food or drink on offer, just two tickets.

We each get 62p from everyone of our books that Amazon sell.

Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

I think it’s as it is inside the stadium. The contract City have with their retail partner prevents them from allowing book sales at the Etihad complex (as far as I know). I don’t think TH selling a few books would be even a pin prick on City finances.

Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

Apologies if I repeat anything here but I have only just read the first few posts of this thread and felt I had to respond. I co-wrote the book with Tommy and have been responsible for organising the book signings. Perhaps the first thing to say is that there is really no fortune to be made in...

    Tommy Hutchison book

Tommy has kindly been asked to be a guest of the club at the FA Cup tie against Arsenal next Friday. Appropriate considering his exploits in 1981 that the game is in the cup and the opponents are from North London. I will post the schedule for the day next week when I know it myself. Suffice...

He retired at Merthyr at the age of 46. Injuries were starting to happen but the main reason for him finishing was the time travelling to games which was starting to take its toll on him as he also had a day job.But for that I think he would have carried on playing.

I just wanted to say thank you to Wayne Buckley for organising an evening with Tommy Hutchison with the Crewe branch of the City supporters club last Thursday evening. Despite problems with the venue, we had a great night and both Tommy and myself would like to thank everyone for the welcome we...

Before writing the book I asked for any memories City fans had of Tommy. Thank you to everyone who replied. Apologies, but due to the constraints of space I could only put a few of these into the book. Thank you in particular then to; Don Price, Tim Crowther, Percypawpaw, Bongsblue and Leveblue...

Just bumping this again. In this extract Tommy reflects on how luck can play a huge part in life. He tells the story of being very close by when the Birmingham pub bombs went off. “The fickleness of fate was brought home to me a week after the German game. I had been to see my family in Fife...

    Tommy Hutchison book

Here is another extract from the book. As a lot of the talk on here is about the cup final, I thought it might be nice to choose a piece from that section. Tommy is describing his goal. “Tottenham had a very good team with some world-class players. The pick of them were the midfield pairing...

That did happen for a few seasons under Jimmy Hill. It gave those working a Saturday shift in the factories a bit of extra time to get to Highfield Road. It also meant that the supporters club could open and serve alcohol just as the game finished (old licensing laws), thus persuading people to...
