    Covid and travel discussion

Nope, my post is correct. People keep getting themselves in a mixup between outbound and inbound testing. For countries that require a test to enter having DEPARTED THE UK, they talk in HOURS eg 48/72 hours before departure for Portugal / Malta etc. Inbound TO THE UK FROM ABROAD, the UK rules...

I arrived in Spain yesterday. Absolute piece of piss getting here - just the Spanish passenger locator form to complete and I believe they do random checks of vaccine / test status. I was through passport control in about 5 minutes and just had to scan the passenger locator QR code before the...

Left as it is so that when it inevitably causes chaos with staff / families being advised to isolate thus causing resentment and ‘economic damage’ - they have a ready made excuse to bring back restrictions under the guise of saving us from such chaos. So instead of doing a U turn on 19th...

Yes indeed. They only have to consider things from an epidemiological pov as that's their area whereas the politicians have to consider many other factors when making these decisions.

    Coronavirus (2021) thread

That’s not a good thread at all. It’s a pointless rant advocating zero covid WHICH IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN WITHOUT DESTROYING EVERYTHING ELSE THAT MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING. It will also never happen because the world will forever be at different stages of vaccination, seasonality, variants etc -...

If you're double vaxxed you won't need to spend any more on testing and can stick with the green package even if Crete is amber (assuming kids are below 18 and so exempt for returning to the UK). For you and wife = antigen within 3 days before boarding flight home + day 2 PCR Kids = test (can...

Total rubbish. Shall we refuse treatment to anyone who contracts an STI as it’s their own fault? How about someone that breaks their leg cycling? This covid fundamentalism is just as stupid as the anti vaxxers but is probably no surprise given the number of people that have serious Stockholm...

When many of the council estate pubs disappeared

My grandad used to run the Crown Inn on the Old Road and before that the Apollo in Miles Platting. The Crown has long since gone but they did indeed have a flat roof veranda with Alsation. The Grove across Club St had two Rotweilers. Last time I drove past the Grove was still there but was a...

You don’t need 16 tests - just the 3 per person so I think it’s more realistically: 1 x PCR outbound = £43 with Randox using discount code 1 x local antigen test = €30 with synlabs 1 x PCR day 2 after arrival home = £43 with Randox using discount code = £113 per person = £452 total for a...

Nobody knows. Variants will continue forever so unless we want to test forever then it will have to stop sometime. Yesterday was a step in the right direction though.

I’m visiting my parents that I’ve not seen for a year so a few days extra out there sunning myself wouldn’t bother me in the slightest!

I’m off to Valencia next week. I’m double jabbed so it will be €25 for a local antigen test before I fly home and then £43 (Randox) for a day 2 PCR back in the UK so roughly £65 total, not great but not £200. You don’t have to do the day 8 test so only one needed when you get back.
