It's still rising though which isn't a good sign. Not that we should be scared. But we should be vigilant and sensible.

I’d describe it as flatlining currently. Up and down around the mid 30k level. I’d expect numbers to be higher from next week but possibly the virus is beginning to run out of new hosts.

Yeah but I’m genuinely not arsed about case numbers now. Hospitalisations and deaths are the only metrics worth looking at from this point forth.

This will be disastrous for public perception of science based methods.
From my initial look at the numbers they appear to have done it again. Antibody study numbers appear to have been totally ignored.

That’s not a good thread at all. It’s a pointless rant advocating zero covid WHICH IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN WITHOUT DESTROYING EVERYTHING ELSE THAT MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING. It will also never happen because the world will forever be at different stages of vaccination, seasonality, variants etc - which is why ‘zero covid Australia’ doesn’t have zero covid!

My mate's daughter used to be a waitress on a casual basis for Sportsman's dinners and other events. If it helps at all, I’ve had two doctors explain the situation just yesterday. At some stage, we have to get back to ‘normal’. If we wait for the vaccination rollout to complete, then we would reopen about the end of October, just in time for the winter flu season. Opening earlier, whilst imperfect, at least sees the schools on holiday and events mostly moving outdoors. According to them, it is either open up now or wait until next year. Waiting until next year, however, assumes that people would obey the rules. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that people are prepared to do so as everybody is so fed up.

I guess life just isn’t perfect.
