    Aston Villa (A) - Sat 21st Dec, 12:30 | PL | Pre-Match Thread

I often wonder how we got through the season 30 or 40 years ago. I know there was a little less football but squads were thin and players didn't seem to miss as many games. The modern game sadly is based as much on running around the place excessively and only partly on skill.

I am inclined to agree although it is rumoured that Dias is not a definite for the rebuild and may be heading along with 5 or 6 others for the exit. Personally I would lose Stones first. But hey.

I optimistically call a draw. I notice the win percentage as it often does is creeping upwards. Clearly optimism is alive and well at least within part of the fan base. What gives me hope for this fixture is the relative poor league form of the opposition added to the fact that the venue is not...

Strangely if it were not for that late monumental double fuck up most people would have praised Nunes on Sunday evening. Very difficult to put him any where else other than the bench at Villa but he did look better in that role.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The club and its loyal support base will survive no matter what. I would point out however that a very negative outcome would inevitably have consequences for the owners. Let's hope the outcome is positive.

Not sure giving them a chance to prove themselves in one game can do any harm. It's unlikely the old gaurd will get much out of this game anyway.

    A Bit of Positive Thinking...

When you think about it our record against them at home over the last ten years is not great. After Sunday it must be 4 or 5 defeats.

Does anybody remember a guy called Vonk. He caused us big time one game against the rags. It still hurts me more than Sundays fuck up.

    Holding of Haaland

Do you know why they do it. They know Haaland is a pussy cat. He seems to enjoy those interlocking moments, he should be much more mobile around the area. That causes alarm in the defence and then the possibility of a penalty offence aroses. Haaland is playing like a guy who wants Barcelona to...

Look if Rico has a future it is as an attacking midfielder. To continue playing him in that inverted fullback role is the hight of fuckin ignorance. If the guy who does it continues he will earn himself the sack.

You can rest assured that the Sheikh will always be primarily concerned with financial return and value growth. How he might approach this is anyone's guess although one assumes he will not want to return to the days of old and second division football.

Well one of the leaders was auditioning for a potential Hollywood career. Did anyone notice that Walker seemed to be slowing down the game all the time?

Good analysis but not sure Pep is the man for the rebuild. His contract extension appeared half hearted to me and his subdued comments yesterday sound like a man who has given up the ghost. Also realistically it will take him two years to get back to where we were, if that's possible, and then...

    The Title Race - 2024/25

Sadly the young hungry players we do have in stock are either not deemed good enough by Pep or have demonstrated on the pitch that they are probably not good enough. I am left here wondering how we actually start a rebuild. Look at the defence Walker toast Lewis probably not good enough...
