How many points to win the league?

Everton who just ground out a draw at the Emirates by shutting up shop and hardly giving them a sniff of a chance?
I was forecasting a way of us getting some points together. I think we will lose to Villa and then have a tough game against Everton. I am hoping we get 4 points there and get additions in January to stop the rot.

Yep, not just it being United but the points being so valuable and as you say, needed. Had we won though it wouldn't have been a turning point to set us off on a run. We don't have that in us, try to nick a draw at Villa, beat Everton and hope for an addition or two in Jan.
I think those runs are a thing of the past with this team, don't think they'll happen again. A win yesterday against the rags would have given everyone a lift as we approach a busy couple of weeks. All that's happened now after that absolute diabolical shit show of a last few minutes, is more doom and gloom.

Yeah we're done this season now.

Watched the documentary recently and it was interesting how Pep harnassed the 4 in a row mantra (never done before... yet) and used it as motivation. What exactly could he motivate them for this season? The squad is done, needs a big refresh of younger, hungrier players to move us on.
Sadly the young hungry players we do have in stock are either not deemed good enough by Pep or have demonstrated on the pitch that they are probably not good enough. I am left here wondering how we actually start a rebuild.
Look at the defence Walker toast Lewis probably not good enough. Gvardiol more of a source of goals not stopping them. Ask yourself would Richard Dunne or John stones fail in clearing that ball off the line yesterday. Which brings me to the aforementioned Johnny Boulders can he realistically be part of any rebuild and for the same reason can Ake? Who does that leave oh and I forgot about the men between the sticks Ederson surely is on his way.
Moving further forward KDB, Gundog and Kovacic ate all too old for future plans as is Bernie who has wanted out for a long time anyway. Phil is probably a rock we can start to build on when he gets his mojo back but who supports him. Grealish, Nunes, Savinho and Doku are just not good enough particularly in the goal scoring department which leaves Haaland if he can be retrieved from that home for the bewildered Look that has decended upon him
We do potentially have Rodri and Bobb but will the Spainard be able to climb back to the pinnacle after his long layoff?
I am left to conclude that the rebuild will be a very difficult task and 7 or 8 quality players who are probably not available are needed at a minimum. We are about to enter uncharted waters for the first time in nearly a generation and it might be a return to days of yore.
Somebody please cheer me up, but I do intend to watch that magical day in May when Kun rewrote the history books at least six times on Chistmas Eve.

This isn't our season to challenge for the title.. and I'm not counting the loss to Bournemouth which was before sporting.

We have a tough run of games coming from mid Jan to March.. and without reinforcements.. top 4 will be hard.

We need massive additions in the players.. because if we go with what we have.. we'll wonder why we have no midfield and why we have no defensive line.

I thought we’d make top 4 before the Juve game. Very much doubt it now. But we’ll see what transpires in January window. We wont get anywhere near top 4 with the current squad/selections.
