There's a seat next to me in block 134 which has been empty all season and yet it never shows up as available when buying extra tickets.

They're about to open just part of the Trafford Bar spur, to Chorlton, which will eventually go out to East Disbury (part of the same phase) and Wythenshawe. The stations further down the line to ED are being built right now. So they might open the bit going to Gorton on its own.
