days are gone when the apprentice started from the bottom sweeping the floors and doing the brews!

we have two apprentices at our works and get paid 3.69 an hour yet they are being trained and expected to work the same as us getting paid a lot more.

the bosses even have the cheek to ask them to not go on there day release because they need them to work that day.

slave labour if you ask me but not surprisingly one young lad has found another job and is leaving good on him.

I get the impression that the nurses on the ward see her as slave labour. She said some of them genuinely don't give a shit about the old people in there and treat the incontinent ones with disdain, embarrassing them more than they already are. Different when a good looking 20 odd year old man was on the ward though. They were falling over themselves to see to him. I hope she doesn't get disillusioned with this as a chosen career path because she comes home in tears some days.

While I finished a while a go (about 6 years). I did nothing but pick things up and help out for the first 6 months. During my interview I was told if I missed college I would lose my job. So I never missed a single day. I would expect your company is using the term "apprentice" to get cheap work knowing these lads will either jack or not make it

Is this anything less than unjustified age discrimination?

The lad pays rent at home and an hours work barely covers his bus fare, I know this is the legal wage for his age but is it morally wrong? Should the government/country be ashamed that young people can be exploited like this?

Thats an utter disgrace, did you know that there are children in Vietnam working for less than £3.69 per week!! Thats whats wrong with this country these younsters don't know they are born. They should be happy that they are in a job at all £3.69 is more than some get for a whole days work!!!!!

Its about high time we kicked this minimum wage into the long grass brought back sweat shops and beat these asian's at there own game.

Whats more there would be no need for welfare benefits as for any of these beasts out of work would be made to work for free.

when i was 16 i was paid 50 quid a week.3.63 an hour would have made me more than happy.same at 17 n 18(75 and 100)
