I like Welbeck as a player. I'd take him as squad player. Think he'll be eventually turn out to be a central midfielder but no way in jose is he better than Negredo at the moment. In the future maybe.

Here's my answer:

Pellegrini (who has a rep for being very upfront and honest) has already said we are hanging onto Dzeko this year. BUT . . . his contract is up in 2015. That means he'll have value to move at the end of this season.

Aguero, on the other hand, is a lock to stay and signed an extension. Ergo -- it makes sense to sign someone who would be more-Dzeko like (since he might leave) than Aguero-like (because Kun is going nowhere).
