‘Supporting’ City

After all this time and then finally us becoming the dominant team in the league, the only thing left for me to hope for is a winning team made up of as many homegrown players as possible.
The icing on the cake and with a few in the squad aging I'm hoping some more youth get a chance tbh.

I know that goes against a lot of peoples wishes of buy another 10 world class players and go again mantra and I wouldn't be bothered if we did that but I would like us to use our fantastic youth academy to its full capabilities.

Lewis, Pusey, Wright, Doyle, Burns, O'Reilly, McAtee, Foden and others looking to take the next step up.

If we could have kept Lavia instead of buying Phillips and I'll add Palmer in on top, maybe even THB as well.

A pipe dream, probably but it would be good to see.
Selling Lavia and buying Phillips was a defintie clanger. I too want to see young players get more of a chance. I’m not sure why we couldn’t have played a fit right back against Bournemouth. If that meant promoting somebody from the youth ranks.

We will bounce back but it might be after the international break. Hopefully, it’s tonight and at the weekend.

I have over 29,000 points, I've been watching City for over 56 years and have had a season ticket for over 50 years. I saw almost every game, home and away, in the season we dropped into the third tier and I only missed two away games in the third tier season. I have only missed eight competitive home games in the last 36 seasons unless you include the fabricated nonsense of the Full Members Cup in which case it increases to nine. I've dragged myself all over the country to see silly kick-off times and I've seen away games across Europe.
AND I'LL CALL OUT A SHITE PERFORMANCE IF I SEE A SHITE PERFORMANCE.
The happy-clappies who refuse to criticise piss me off almost as much as those who complain about everything.

Not allowed to criticise anything these days or an individual I'm afraid, especially on here, I'm not as far down the line as you, but I still have plenty years behind me in going to the match (40) and thousands of pounds invested, and I will also call out shite performances.

We both know we have witnessed more than enough shite over the decades, but this day and age with the stars we have in our squad if it's bad it needs saying.

This doesn't make us entitled or raggish, thinking we should blow everyone away every week, but it has been bad from what we have been used to a lot already this season.

But the truth is, this squad now is arguably one of the worst / weakest we have had in quite a few years, older players taking longer to recover and latest additions not quite seeming to be as good as we have had in the past, shall we say underwhelming signings, but to contradict myself a little here, we are still up there and shouldn't be ruled out just yet, but please can we win at Anfield this time, as this will be the most crucial game of the league this season

It’s glory hunters like you that make me sick. That 3rd tier season was peak - think I missed one away that season - not sure would have done it again the following season mind but we’re a sadistic bunch if nowt else so who knows!!

Things have moved on since FOC's were supporting/playing football. Back in the day football could be one of the contributory things to your character at a young age, without realising it. Playing or supporting a shit team taught you so much. How to take loss and put it in perspective ( I not just talking football). How to win, and what it takes in regard to effort and thought and how to treat the vanquished with respect. Making life long friends and dealing with different types of people. Commitment. You stepped away from it most midweeks and realised other stuff was important, too.

Now it's in our faces 24/7. Online and TV. Commentated on by tribal organisations and it's shrills with the sole purpose of us hating each other. Because it is full on there is no time to put it in perspective, no time to step away and when there is in close season, you're like an addict on cold turkey, waiting for it to come back.

We all come from different standpoints and views, but doesn't make our opinions invalid. I've never played a football computer game or done fantasy leagues, but many do. I'm not interested in expected goals. I like to think I know a good player when I see one, but I may be wrong - I have been before. I like the pure stuff - but things change.

Be kind to each other. There is enough shit from the outside to enrage us.

Which games do we all turn up and cheer the lads on? Maybe Madrid in the CL semi final 18 months ago. Arsenal at home the same season?

We don’t have the right to win every game if you believe in the underpinning principles of sport. Bournemouth scored twice and we notched once. That’s life and sport!
Yep, never said we had the right. I said we shouldn't lose on the basis of a team wanting it more though. We turn up and support our team every match we attend and sell out or close to. There isn't moans or groans or booing is there.

Extremes at either end of the Doom/Happy Clappers scale, you can praise/criticize players & performances easily with the lot in the middle. Just block the rest and whittle it down.

The fans are very fair and won’t boo. We, overall, just need to give more passionate backing to the lads at home. Credit to the 1894 guys and others who do their best to raise the atmosphere. It’s been an uphill battle for a good while.

Talking of shite atmospheres, I was doing jobs in the house on Sunday and had the rags vs Chelski on the radio. Mainly background noise but suddenly there was a large roar. I thought the rags had gone 2 nil up but stupid me hadn’t realise the roar was too loud for the rags and Chelski had equalised.
