Selling Lavia and buying Phillips was a defintie clanger. I too want to see young players get more of a chance. I’m not sure why we couldn’t have played a fit right back against Bournemouth. If that meant promoting somebody from the youth ranks. After all this time and then finally us becoming the dominant team in the league, the only thing left for me to hope for is a winning team made up of as many homegrown players as possible.
The icing on the cake and with a few in the squad aging I'm hoping some more youth get a chance tbh.
I know that goes against a lot of peoples wishes of buy another 10 world class players and go again mantra and I wouldn't be bothered if we did that but I would like us to use our fantastic youth academy to its full capabilities.
Lewis, Pusey, Wright, Doyle, Burns, O'Reilly, McAtee, Foden and others looking to take the next step up.
If we could have kept Lavia instead of buying Phillips and I'll add Palmer in on top, maybe even THB as well.
A pipe dream, probably but it would be good to see.
We will bounce back but it might be after the international break. Hopefully, it’s tonight and at the weekend.
