The principle is the same if it isn't for medical reasons it should be against the law, FGM by the sounds of it is more damaging but you're right it's the same.

As has been pointed out in various sources though, there are plenty of pieces of legislation that he's happy to vote through without being debated properly. It seems that he's only interested in proper process if it gives him the opportunity to look like the biggest prick on the planet.

We have laws that make cutting bits of little girls illegal and only one successful prosecution has ever taken place even though countless thousands are cut each and every year with no action taken. It carries a 14 year jail term, the whole issue surrounding it is that of religious bias once we get past that nonsense we can start locking the bastards up.
