‘Upskirting’ law blocked by Christopher Chope MP

The thing is, the constituents vote them back in again anyway if they're the only candidate for the party. It's unbelievable that Philip Davies got back in at the election. The local parties shoul look at deselecting them though.

Opposing parties should really just agree to run one candidate against backwards cunts like Davies and Chope and push really hard to make sure that the consituents know exactly what they're like.

It needs debating to keep a precedent that all new laws should be debated being being enshrined. This would be an offence that could lead to jail time for offenders and I'd be more comfortable knowing that that law had been debated previously to iron out any issues with its wording. I obviously have new issue with the policy, and doubt the MP in question does either.
Isn't it the job of the Lords to test any new law?

Well found just as big a bellend

Yes ladies don't wear short skirts otherwise you are inviting a photo, what a twat

Don't start crying about rape if you're wearing provocative clothing or have had a couple of drinks either.

How can one MP object to something and the bill gets blocked as a result?
How the fuck is that democracy?
Did he ask his constituency members for their opinion?
MP's are not their to serve their own agendas but to serve the needs of their constituents.

So I assume, to avoid such a precedent, he's opposed every single bill brought through to that stage?

Also, I wouldn't trust a bloke who charges £800 on expenses to fix his sofa as far as I could throw him. I'd give throwing him a decent go though to be fair.

The BBC said he's part of a parliamentary group that aims to do so, he often objects to bills tabled on quiet Fridays and in fact did so half an hour before this law.

And he could well be a dick.

It's a loophole.
It's also the job of the Commons. The Lords are there as a check, but I agree with Chope that MPs should debate laws too.
It's the job of the Commons to represent the will of the people, it's the job of the Lords to act as a brake and do qualitative testing on legislation, it's the job of the head of state and highest courts to examine whether the new legislation can legally coexist within the existing legal framework. That's how the Irish system is set up and it's based on the British system.
