“City have made the PL uncompetitive”. Myth & reality

To be honest it wasn’t competitive last season. We pissed it and it was never in doubt from November.

This season it is very competitive. Normally 11 wins and 2 draws would see a side at least 6/8 points clear. Much closer this year. The rest of the league from United down are just not good enough so that’s why the gap is big from 5- 6 onwards.

Warms the cockles of my heart to make the darlings of Fred Done, Rio, GPC, Hucknell, Holmes, Nesbit, the biggest bus in the world etc look uncompetitive and long may it continue...

It is such a lazy narrative. HRH INVESTED in a Premier League club with the blessings of the League. Did they think he wanted a continual, persistent loser, or did they think he was going to INVEST FOR SUCCESS?

And, INVEST he has!
He has INVESTED in expanding the stadium HE DOESNT OWN.
He has INVESTED in the improvement of the community at no cost to the City of Manchester.
He has INVESTED in an institution of higher learning for the community.
He has plans to INVEST in the collar site, which was brownfield and some of the most economically depressed areas of Europe.
He has INVESTED in the best football academy in the world in an old chemical site eyesore.

And, oh yeah, he has INVESTED in building the best, most successful football club in England for the last 7 years, making it the fastest growing club in the world, with the best revenue improvement, and made it the lynchpin of a global network of clubs.

Meanwhile, the established world order of European football has also gained from the increased competition and interest in the game from the new clubs who have investors creating that competition...but they don’t like it, especially at a time when many of them are struggling economically by comparison.

I simply don’t listen to the idiots who parrot this garbage, because most have no clue what they are on about and the rest are simply trolls who support other clubs on the wind up. It is akin to reading an article and then thinking you are going to find anything at all of substance in the comments section. Reading and commenting on Internet forum comments sections should result in immediate sectioning and treatment for poor judgment!

The rags are the only side to win the title 3 times in a row on 2 occasions 98/99, 99/00, 00/01 and 06/07,07/08 and 08/09 winning the title once in between these periods.

Before then only Huddersfield in the 20’s, Arsenal in the 30’s and Liverpool in 80’s achieved this feat once.

13/14 season was the first time in 22 seasons (inc the last season of the old division one) that the rags failed to finish in the top 3 and they finished 3rd on only 3 occasions. No team in the top European leagues were as dominant as they were.

Yet that was competitive? Knowing that from 1995 if they didn't win it then it would be Arsenal or from 2004 Chelsea, they were dark days. That was of course until up popped an Argentine to score a goal in Fergie time.

Long before City were "making the league uncompetitive" we were watching a financially advantaged Utd playing hoofball, winning league title year after year, showing how to win it with aggression and hard work.

Because England tend to pick our national players from the leading teams we ended up with a hoofball international game, which meant English football was way behind the rest of the world, we won nothing and got nowhere.

Nowadays though the leading teams are playing quality football, our England players are being picked from the leading teams who play quality football, and England are better for it.

We've actually turned football around in this country. Whilst our national press try to take us back to what it was.

it will be totally out of order if we win back to back league titles, it makes the league so boring.

should we win the league this season think the following season for us as the champions we start handicap system. Every team starts with a goal advantage before the game kicks off to make it fair and give other teams a chance. When we play the rags they get a two goal start to give them a realistic chance.
