“City in crisis”

22 years old and he had the highest goal/assists in the PL last season and is top again this season.

No idea what the criteria is for generational talent but we wouldn’t be able to buy him back for well over £100m now.

It’s ok to admit we fucked up and please don’t make comparisons with Doku. Doku has 4 league goals in nearly a season and a half at City - Palmer scored 4 in the first half of a game a few weeks back.
I agree that Cole had a great season last year. If however we’re skewing the stats by adding goals and assists together after a handful of games this season, Nicholas Jackson and Danny Welbeck are 4th and 5th in the table - should we table bids for them ?

I’m not a big advocate of Doku, I think his end product is poor and I’d pick Jack over him every time, but Doku and Cole are totally different players. If Cole was in our squad he’d be competing directly for a place with Phil (a generational talent) and if they were both on good form Cole wouldn’t get in the team.

We were right to sell him.

"Crisis" is all relevant, I get that. But I still think we're so far away from crisis it's untrue. In my book, finishing 10th with no trophies is not even a crisis, we simply concentrate on bouncing back. But we ain't doing that, and we're nowhere near anything resembling a crisis. Playing poor by our standards, I will accept.

Crisis...no....
Playing very poorly ....absolutely

The real issue is that I think some people are recognising is that this isn't a blip....
The team is on a down trend due to injuries and age.....
Kdb, stones, walker......all now problems due to injury records
Gundo, walker, kdb all the wrong side of 30 and declining performances....

Poor transfer window management for what ever reason

All this = aging and seriously depleted squad who cant cope with the most physically demanding and intense and fastest league.

No one to step into those players boots and even if KDB does return....you would have to be blind to have not seen the drop off in performances levels from him over the last 12 months...and Gundos holiday at Barca gas had the same affect on him

We know Pep won't change the way he plays.....which will mean more results and performances like we have seen.

The one hope we have is thatc Pep csn get one final tunevout of those players....if he does he will go up another few levels of genius

Transition season incoming
Also, players for four years have performed well under more and more pressure and that has contributed to growing mental tiredness. Nobody can keep on for ever. No crisis, just a pause.

Absolutely adore Pep and accept we will be poorer without him at the helm

But I think we need a reset from the Spanish leadership team and look to focus more on our core support rather than trying to attract tourists and day trippers which is leading to a sterilised atmosphere

I hope the owners use the charges as a chance to move on and look to what they captured in the first four years of the takeover

Re engage with our local support , re energise the Etihad , trust in the academy and recruit the best up and coming players and turn them into world superstars

Just got back from Lisbon, haven’t really been following this nonsense thread too closely!!!

See the Gooners have lost 3 in Row

Bournemouth away loss ? We did that :0(
Newcastle away loss ? We got a draw :0)
Inter Away loss ? We got a goalless draw at home :0)

4th in the League !! We’re 2nd :0)

Lower than us in the Champions League standings :0)

Sporting Director resigns unexpectedly!!!
We have one lined up for the start of next season :0)

So I take it from that ?

I’ll sign up to that :0)

Sounds easy ??? :0)

WTF have the board been doing this last 5 years???

Haaland? Rodri? Stones? Diaz? Ederson? Etc

Home Grown??? Not !!!
Fully developed when purchased?? Not!!

200million + from Academy player sales :0)

But for us to compete with the Big Boys in World Football, on all levels, we need fans and income in the Tens of millions.
I’m afraid, not Thousands, or it’s back to the days of 80’s and 90’s and midweek away at Lincoln!!! :0(

Exciting as it was in the end, not sure I want to go back to it. :0)

Non Entitled Fan :0)

Who is feeding this to Gaughn?

Crisis or not, to have a meeting like this and then go to Sporting and do that 2nd half, I hope we had another big meeting on the plane back home.

It’s just indicative of just how ridiculously high a bar both Pep and our players (including those that have left that don’t get that fond a comments any more) have set that this is considered a crisis.

For any other club, missing out on three titles wouldn’t be a crisis. For us, it’s losing three games in a row regardless of having won the previous four titles.

There’s nothing wrong with thinking it, I’d agree it is a crisis for us right now compared to what we’ve become accustomed to. It’s worth remembering what we considered crises before and also what we’ll probably go back to once Pep goes though.

It’s nothing to get down about. It’s a reminder to realise just how unbelievably good we’ve been and how privileged we’ve been to see and experience it.
