Palmer wasnt better than Doku and Grealish at the time, wtf. He was nowhere near their level and couldnt get a game for that reason. He was poor, uninspiring but had promise. Then he left. The media thought "Hey ex City player leaves, he's brilliant - how stupid are City"IIRC Palmer wanted out in the same window as we signed Nunes and Doku. If either were signed before Palmer left than I can understand why Palmer was uncommitted as he was, and still is, a far better player than either of them.
I also think he'd offer more goals and assists than Grealish, but Palmer wasn't at that level at the time we signed Grealish.
However it's important to accept even our squad players should be capable of looking decent against Sporting.
"How stupid are City" is what this is all really about.
I personally think if he came back to City right now he would be nowhere near the same level. Pep wouldnt even play him, because he doesnt add anything when he doesnt have the ball like Bernardo or Foden etc.
