“City in crisis”

IIRC Palmer wanted out in the same window as we signed Nunes and Doku. If either were signed before Palmer left than I can understand why Palmer was uncommitted as he was, and still is, a far better player than either of them.
I also think he'd offer more goals and assists than Grealish, but Palmer wasn't at that level at the time we signed Grealish.
However it's important to accept even our squad players should be capable of looking decent against Sporting.
Palmer wasnt better than Doku and Grealish at the time, wtf. He was nowhere near their level and couldnt get a game for that reason. He was poor, uninspiring but had promise. Then he left. The media thought "Hey ex City player leaves, he's brilliant - how stupid are City"
"How stupid are City" is what this is all really about.

I personally think if he came back to City right now he would be nowhere near the same level. Pep wouldnt even play him, because he doesnt add anything when he doesnt have the ball like Bernardo or Foden etc.

It’s looking likely we will have pretty much no rest or preseason for the third year in row.
This one will see a change in senior staff too.

We have had no time to press the reset and this has taken it’s toll.

Perfect storm- so fuckin what.

Bring on Brighton- we are gonna tonk em.

This and the start of next season is a few weeks after the club world cup. So again no rest.

We are the best team in the world and it's clear and to be expected that our opponents can raise their game for the 90 minutes against us.

City are playing teams giving more than normal every game, meaning we need to be on it 24/7. We can't keep that up without having a decent amount of downtime for the players.

It’s daft to say that Palmer’s a generational talent.

It’s also daft to say that he was nowhere near the level of Doku who’s been inconsistent and whose end product is nowhere near what we need.

The fact is if today they were both in a fully fit City squad and we had to win the next game to win the league neither of them would start

I doubt Palmer was ever below Doku's level. Grealish is irrelevant as Palmer wasn't ready when we signed him. Palmer was, and still is, better than Nunes, but Nunes had Prem experience.

22 years old and he had the highest goal/assists in the PL last season and is top again this season.

No idea what the criteria is for generational talent but we wouldn’t be able to buy him back for well over £100m now.

It’s ok to admit we fucked up and please don’t make comparisons with Doku. Doku has 4 league goals in nearly a season and a half at City - Palmer scored 4 in the first half of a game a few weeks back.
