“City in crisis”

existential crisis…

Pep plays a certain way.

Players can’t or won’t due to age/injuries/fatigue.

The boss will prevail but until then it’s going to be a really difficult watch.

Two worlds colliding. The players either need to show they are still capable to play in a pep system or pep needs to adapt to the players shortcomings.

Baldy won’t and has unprecedented history using his methods. A tweak might be the compromise. 5 at the back.

Either way he needs to stop flooding midfield with slow players.

This is basically my feelings right now. It’s very hard to get worked up about the fact we might not win a 5th title in a row. We might have to wait a bit longer for Pep’s…NINETEENTH trophy at the club. Oh well!

If anything seeing how pep will scheme up ways to get out of this tactical mess will make the season a lot more enjoyable.
Nothing ever lasts forever, what we have accomplished is remarkable

Absolutely adore Pep and accept we will be poorer without him at the helm

But I think we need a reset from the Spanish leadership team and look to focus more on our core support rather than trying to attract tourists and day trippers which is leading to a sterilised atmosphere

I hope the owners use the charges as a chance to move on and look to what they captured in the first four years of the takeover

Re engage with our local support , re energise the Etihad , trust in the academy and recruit the best up and coming players and turn them into world superstars
I couldn't give a ticket away today for free and not for the first time. I genuinely don't think we've got enough local support whom are prepared to actually get off their arse and attend to fill the ground every week. If it wasn't for the JCL's we'd be hitting 35/40k every week which is what we had in the bad times. Thats our core loyal fanbase.

I looked at the South stand today on 85mins and it was half empty and thats the singing section, the kippax if you like. We moan about european fans being organised and conformed to sing on cue, we moan at drums, we moan at JCL's, we moan at the layout and acoustics of the stadium, we moan at the cheese before the game and on and on we fucking moan.

I think most people don't sing because yes modern football is sanitised and maybe its a bit embarassing singing next to somebody in plain sight, i dont know but if people just decided to fuck with all of that and sang it would create a ripple effect. What this team has given us the last 10yrs is off the scale and they need us vocally now more than ever.

The ridiculousness of this whole situation goes back to the LC game at Spurs when Pep had said that he was gonna play the kids and ended up playing most of the 1st team only to pick up injuries in the match and warm up.
Ironically, of the last 5 games, the performances that night of Wright and O’Reilly were excellent compared to the dross in midfield we have seen since

playing the curent pep way we might beat Feyenoord with our best team but really fear our midfield will get found out against the scousers

That midfield tonight was a major worry

It reminded me of watching United in recent years with a dysfunctional midfield of players who don’t want to work off the ball, or who haven’t the legs to.

It’s why I could never agree that we’d a chance of the league once Rodri got injured, or of the hopeful talk in recent weeks that we’d still go on a long winning run to win the title like we do every year
I just think that’s impossible with the current midfield options

If we’d lost Rodri for the season in either of the previous 2 we wouldn’t have won those titles either

Shift the away fans down to rainy corner (ESL1/SSL1) and fill SSL3/2 with 8000 City fans.

There'll be a racket then !!

Its not a crisis its just the end of another chapter in history at least as far as the team on matchdays goes.

It happens to all teams especially in comps that are as competitive as the Premier League.

All teams are striving to improve all the time and all the worlds best players will not want to or be able come to City with the passing of each transfer window.

Some people have short memories in the past twelve seasons Liverpool have finished outside the top 4 on 4 occasions and finished 4th twice.

They have won one title in that timeline the same number as Leicester City.

Arsenal have finished outside the top 4 on 6 occasions and have not won a title.

Chelsea the next best team in terms of premierships in that timeline with 2 and finishing outside the top 4 the following season after winning the title have finished outside the top 4 on 4 occasions including finishing 12th.

None of these clubs one would say despite the results they were in crisis.

This year might be the first time 16 seasons we finish outside the top 4 , yes that is right 16 seasons on the spin.

If so I won't be complaining too much.

Manure have finished outside the top 4 on 6 occasions since we last finished outside the top 4.

16 years around 20 per cent of your lifetime , yep no complaints from me.

Sure no supporter likes their team to lose 5 on the spin but it happens to the best of run clubs , that is just the nature of sport as it should be.

Well, in the second half, in CB3, where there's normally no singing, we were definitely blasting out in support of the boys!

Don't let a jubilant away support get to us and make us think we were'nt there!

I reckon in spite of what was served up to us, the second half, some of the old seige mentality was there, and will be there over the next few weeks!
