“City in crisis”

Exactly. We went 35 years without success, so we can wait a year and there's nothing to say we'll have to just yet. It's been a tough spell with injuries and poor performances but we're not miles away from being the best again. We clearly need a RB. We clearly need a couple more in midfield. But we're missing the best player on the planet and he'll be back next season. We're missing a young attacking talent in Bobb who looked like he'd be a star this season, he'll be back in January.

We could have suffered this decline in a previous season and ultimately we're 2nd in the league and two wins this week puts us in a great position to be straight into the knockouts in the CL and 5pts off top. The whole mood lifts and it's game on. And if we lose both, so be it. We'll be back. If we don't qualify for the CL then so be it, good luck trying to beat us in the league when we're playing Europa or Conference League football. Or maybe we won't be in Europe at all. Again, good fucking luck.
Not qualifying for the champions league will set us back years!!

Yeah, let's try and rebuild when the top players won't come to us - Good luck!

That's absolute bollocks. Top top players want to win the CL. We offer a better chance of that than nearly every other team in it. If we were out of it for a season it wouldn't stop players coming to City, with Pep in charge. They'd know we'd be back in it the next year. I didn't see a queue of the world's best joining Villa or Newcastle when they got into the CL. I didn't see top players refusing to sign for the dippers when they weren't in it. And I watched Arsenal play in it consistently for fuck knows how long and never win it.

How many defeats on the bounce before the inverted commas come off the thread title? I’m going with 7.

For us not to be in CL would be quite a dramatic fall off tbh. To not be in Europe at all would be totally ridiculous.

So, to summarise, we are on our worst run in 18 years and...
- 2nd in the league (with 26 games to go)
- still in the CL with a good chance of getting through to the knockout stages (jinxed it for tomorrow now!)
- FA cup still to come
- Out of what is probably the least important of the 4 competitions we are in (arguably a good thing as it means fewer games)

Most teams would bite your arm off to be in that position.
