“City in crisis”

When Furgson left utd he had created an aged squad, he left that club so devoid of future talent it has cost them a whole generation of success.

For me, thank fuck Pep is staying, two 1/2 years to build what we need in future.
Well he then needs to get his finger out with the new Director of Football and start recruiting

recruitment cost us a lot. you need to keep adding to squad every year, new blood, to shake things a bit and not go flat. you also need to add more good players than mediocre/bad/flops. no club has perfect transfer record of only big hits, but look at the rags and their spending over 10 years and you will see what more bad transfer than good ones do to you over a longer period.

not many clubs spent more on transfers than rags, but spending is not getting them out of their rot if they spend it as badly as they did generally.
80m Maguire, 60m Mount, 85m Antony etc.

we need to find our way back to sign the next Ederson, next KDB, next Rodri, next Walker, next Mahrez, instead of being content of getting Phillips, Nunes and ok squad players like Kovacic, Doku etc.

when Aguero left we wanted Kane. we didnt get Kane did it with false 9 but then we went in for Haaland. we need this mentality back for transfers.

if we need someone like Musiala or Wirtz we need to go for them. if they cannot be signed are we ok with someone in similar position from Wolverhampton?

selling or letting players go is one thing, replacing them with just as good is another thing. Mahrez, Alvarez, Palmer. who replaced them?

We all say peps has more than enough credit in the bank due to his achievements and rightly so he’s the best manager we’ve ever had.
But I’m guessing the players feel the same
Way aswell. How can we be too hard on them for what they achieved.
It’s now upto the board to play their part and provide the funds over the next two windows to replace some of the legends
Who are past their best.
I’m sure the club will be looking at replacements as we speak, not easy in January but I will always trust the club
I think we are just unlucky that the combination of a huge injury list, the 115
And aging players or players out form all coming together at once is a situation none of us could foresee.
This bad run won’t continue I’m sure of it.
Let’s all get behind pep and the players

If all else fails we’ve always got
“typical city “ to fall back on : )

The only surprising thing is that it hasn’t happened sooner.
You’d hope people would understand that there’s a reason 4 in a row has NEVER been done before in top flight history, and yet, far from being satisfied with that, they’re suicidal that we’re not going to do 5 in a row..

Not only that:
Domestic Treble (can’t be done, said GPC).
Uniquely, winning the treble as champions.

Domestic records:

100 points in a season.
21 consecutive wins (all comps)
18 consecutive league wins.
19 consecutive games without going behind
23 consecutive home wins (all comps)
20 consecutive away wins (all comps)
12 consecutive away league wins
10 consecutive wins in UEFA comps
11 champions league wins in a single season
26 consecutive CL games unbeaten (CL record)
33 games unbeaten in CL games (still ongoing)
169 goals scored in a season (all comps)
106 goals scored in PL season
113 PL goals scored in a calendar year
32 league wins in a season
36 league wins in a calendar year
19 away league wins in a calendar year

All the above achieved with Guardiola and some wet wipes want him sacked…..
Did the Sporting defeat not count?

Feels a bit weird to say it but honestly I am loving this season. It's like a welcome spot of R&R from the high intensity of recent seasons. Laughing at the absolute weapons either masquerading as City fans (and for some, who actually are sadly) and the absolute weapons in the media - it's cathartic in many respects. And as long as the players and management of this Club can be given some space to find some much needed and much deserved peace and stability, get fit, rediscover the joy of playing the game they love and prepare to go again next season, I could not give a single shit what happens over the next few months. #Together wasn't just a slogan for the good times.
It is disappointing to see the amount of City fans whose heads have completely fallen off over this run of form. It’s unbelievable really the reaction some have had: from incessant moaning, to being twats towards certain players, to making up and spreading rumours… it’s like they learnt nothing from experiencing any of the bad years from 1983-2007.

There’s a reason nobody has ever won four league titles in a row before, the effort it must have taken and intensity they must have played at last season after the treble, must have been incredible. No wonder we lost the FA Cup final the week after.

This is a good reset for us as a club, but also interesting to see which fans have still got that tough City resilience.

That’s the sentimentalist’s view. The harsh reality is that playing beyond 32 is exceptional, especially at this level, and 3 players (Walker, Gundo & KDB are well north and struggling). Stones’ injuries have plagued him. Ake has had his share of muscular injuries and we don’t have any serious young cover Pep is willing to blood.
There is nothing sentimental at all about my view. KdB has had 3 serious injuries while at City; when he was 25, 27 and 32. In 2019 he came back to play in a team which did the one and only domestic treble in history, overturning a ten point Liverpool lead in the table to do it. Similarly at the age of 32 he came back after injury in January 2024 and played an important part in our fourth successive title win. The evidence suggests that KdB is simply the best creative midfielder in the PL and that his injuries have not been a sign of being injury prone or a sign of age. This season injury may well be made worse because players have to return before they are fit because the club has so many injured players. This is arguably the case with Kyle Walker who is in his eighth season at the club and has had few problems with injury until the very end of last season. With no rest and recovery time he has struggled but we would be foolish to argue that he is too old and fin1shed. The evidence of his declining powers seems to be little more than that that he was outpaced by Traore and Werner, neither of whom is slow and that he sometimes looks uncomfortable in a back four which changes, due to injury, every game. It is easy to argue that 32 is a cut off point and playing beyond that age is "exceptional" but Messi, Ronaldo, Modric and others suggest it is nowhere near as exceptional as it used to be. And two further points. Look at the trophies "our old men" have won with the injuries both before and after 32 and we can say they are exceptional players in an exceptional team.

Which raises the question of when do you replace them and with whom? Every season there are those who prophesy City's demise and every season City have proved them wrong. This season appears different but our problems cannot be explained without mentioning the number of injuries to the large number pf players affected and to pick out 3 players who may be too old is to ignore the scale of the problem. Foden, KdB's successor has injured (not age related?!) or ill for more than a few games, on Saturday, for the second half only one of four CBs was fit and Kyle (not injured or too old!) had to fill in. As Guardiola says, our squad is good enough, when they are all fit. I think Rodri is the one we can't replace - who could? - but some of our fans still argue that we would be fine if we hadn't sold Cole Palmer! He left 1 1/2 seasons ago, and we didn't do too bad in his absence. Or should we ditch Pep and buy a crystal ball to foresee a major injury crisis?

I don't know if you have deliberately misinterpreted my post or not.

Pointing out that these players are St the end of their careers is not attacking them it's just fact ...they are dine physically. I'm not diminishing for one second what they have achieved or the players they have been but they can't do it anymore.

How many times have you seen walker done for pace this season....everyone who is coming up against him at the moment

How often are you seeing kdb run through the midfield like he used you...you aren't cause he can't do it
The injuries gave caught up with them

Stones and Ake gave been consistently injury issues ...this isn't revisionist....its just a fact
Gundo...an absolute legend bur he just can't do it anymore
None of these are bad recruitment......they were all excellent servants and all deserve their place as legends of the club
Haaland I didn't mention as he isn't an issue...i agree he is living off scraps bit jot recruiting someone to replace Alvarez was a mistake as we're nunes and Phillips.....big mistakes
Those 9 players are either finished because time or injury or both has caught up with them....this isn't diminishing what they have done but it is true and we are seeing the results of this

You could have all those players fit( and most of them have been but then get injured agsin *(stones and Ake...which just proves my point) and just Rodri out and there would not be much difference....kdb has been fit to name in yhe squad for 5 weeks now...have yiu seen his performances when on the pitch?... a shadow of the player he was....and even when losing Pep doesn't bring him on as he knows he can't push him or he will break again..this is age catching up.

Yes injuries are an issue ( which happens with an aged squad)but people are burying their head in the sand if they think it is only that....it happens to every player...even the very best
Do you know the difference between a fact and an opinion? And the opinions you state as fact are nothing more than a moaning diatribe from the bitter ego of a frustrated fan. You're prepared to dismiss as "dine physically" excellent players because they are actually playing through injury. I have seen Walker "done for pace" twice this season" and certainly NOT by ".everyone who is coming up against him at the moment" because he has to play when not fully fit. Look at the number of injured players, look at those who play through injury and ask how many injuries are age related. And then ask who could have replaced those you think are too old. And then you might tell us which players you would have recruited instead of the donkeys you think the club did recruit in the years wasted winning 6 PL titles and every other title going. And then you might apologise to Pep and everyone else at the club.

When you think about it after watching the 4 in row programme how can we and I mean me aswell criticise the players and coach for what’s happening . They have given everything they could to get that 4th title and it’s broken them and maybe pep aswell . I still think our recruitment has let us down though .

Can't criticse the board if the likes of Bellingham and Rice have decided that Arsenal and Real Madrid are their preferred destination.
