“City Matters” fan committee

Any update on the PL “investigation”.

Interesting.

Since CC1 bumped the thread on the 20th ofJanuary, the last post prior to that was on the 12th of January, and since the 20th of January the thread has been active with numerous questions about city Matters.

To my knowledge, not that I know who all the reps are and their BM usernames, if they do post on Blue Moon, there hasn’t been a reply or a question answered by any of the current City Matters Reps. Again, I stand corrected on that.

If there are any of the current city Matters reps on BM can you come forward and explain what is currently going on with City Matters. Thank you.

After all, you do apparently represent the fans, and we did vote for you as our City Matters reps.

So you honestly feel everything except the team is fine? The atmosphere, the ticket prices? City Square, the ‘organised fun’? The way day trippers who spend £100 in the shop are prioritised over ‘legacy fans’?

I don’t think anyone on here expects the club to fix the transport links. The point is, we’d like to know what their opinion on it is, along with the myriad of other issues discussed by Blues on this forum.

What’s more, if the club is aware of the weekly tram chaos, and if the club does care, they can lobby the pertinent parties (mayor’s office, Keolis Amey Metrolink, etc etc). That’s what plenty of other clubs do.
Correct.

I’d rather they concentrated on football like all the other clubs in the PL.
The football is run by Begiristain, Pep and the rest of the management team.

The wider football club from the stadium, to parking, to transport, to ticketing, to marketing us as a club from the Moon, to aiming everything around the game at kids when kids are about 5% of the attendance, to food+drink and much much more are all run by another part of the business.

Pep has nowt to do with any of the other stuff just like those working on the other stuff have nowt to do with the football.

I have no argument with anything you have written but I am wondering how the club prioritises “day trippers” ? There has, without doubt, been a huge increase in the number of ”tourists” attending in recent seasons and they do indeed seem to spend large amounts of money the Club Shop. However, I’m guessing they buy their tickets on the OS. These tickets are available to all match day members on a first come first serve basis, so is this simply a case of “legacy fans” choosing to stay away and watch the game on TV ?

I’d think legacy fans think blowing £62 on Spurs is a bit much every few weeks and that doesn’t include transport maybe food and drink, whereas the tourist factors it into their whole trip, if I go to Disneyland £62 for a day would be a bargain but would I be wanting to pay that all the time, would I balls, that’s why they have season tickets for residents, who can come and go as they please at much cheaper rates. The thing is if things take a down turn and we end up say like Liverpool for a few seasons and winning not a lot would the tourists still come, City expand the North stand and suddenly no one is in it because they priced locals out and the tourists aren’t there.

Exactly this. Nothing wrong with asking a tourist to stump up more money for games, but supporters who attend on a regular basis should be treated so much better than they currently are.

Don't want to jump the gun or tempt fate, but can you ask the club at the next meeting if there are any plans to put on flights to Istanbul? I don't mean free flights like the Porto flights. I mean payable flights via Etihad Airways and chartered planes to get as many City fans over to Istanbul as possible. People are going to struggle to get flights, as according to the Istanbul ticket thread, City will get 20,000 tickets, if that's true? Thanks.

We met with them yesterday (reform of the group was one of the main topics - minutes from previous meetings should be going live next Thursday).

Anyway, we didn’t touch upon travel for Istanbul, but they are thinking about it already. I’ll raise it specifically now. Unless it’s gone live and I’ve missed it, they have some coaches lined up for Wembley too.

Thanks Alex. Much appreciated.

Any news on the away ticket situation? Percentages. Players, staff, sponsors, corporates, away fans, etc?

At our meeting yesterday, the club accepted that the Madrid match day membership sales were a mistake.

They made the case that they followed the same criteria as Madrid last season and interestingly, that we have never had match day qualifying criteria based upon attendance - any that has existed has been solely due to security. That said, me and a few others pointed out the obvious about Bayern sales, and the general demand for match day sales all season. Appreciate that none of this solves what happened.

Nonetheless, we have agreed to work with the club to develop an approach to match day tickets qualifying criteria.

Whilst we have some to do that, there is the potential that the FA Cup Final and Champions League Final (if we get there) could go down to member sales. In reality, it’s highly unlikely that United will go to match day members. However, to avoid a similar problem to Madrid, they have asked us to put some options forward pretty quickly.

Happy to hear everyone’s views. The way I see it, we could:

• Leave as it is
• Base it on ticket points
• Base it on attendance in the FA Cup
• A blend of the two above

It may be too complicated, but I would base it on FA Cup attendance first (trying to replicate cup scheme membership for season ticket holders) and then have points brackets within.

Edit: Also worth adding that our number one priority, is to add a point around not being eligible for a ticket if you buy membership after the game has been pulled out of the hat.
