“City Matters” fan committee

We have played 18 competetive matches at the Etihad so far this season in the 4 competitions.

Just 6 of those matches have been on a Saturday at 3pm.

It is the fact that our fixtures are constantly being shifted that doesn't help with public transportation.

I have already knocked the Carabao and the Chumps on the head and the FA Cup will be getting it's marching orders next season.
I don't think we will have another home game on a Saturday at 3.00 this season. Games left are:
Villa - already moved to Sunday @ 4.30
Newcastle - already moved to Saturday @ 12.30
West Ham - already moved to Sunday @ 4.30
Liverpool will surely be moved as will Chelsea. Only leaves Leicester and Leeds currently scheduled for a Saturday.

Call me an Old Fart, but all this changing fixtures to suit TV companies, is doing my head in.

Leeds may be moved due to the coronation

So less than half home PL games at the traditional time on a Saturday.

I do sometimes wonder if City get a bit of an easy ride when it comes to fan pressure on certain issues, when you compare it to the Tarquins, Dippers etc who mobilise themselves to very publicly breath down the necks of their scummy clubs if someone so much as sneezes.
This is a great point. I'm not knocking my fellow Blues but it takes a lot to push City fans to protest. Partly that's because we know we're so much better off than we used to be under this ownership. But even when John Wardle was Chairman, Mackintosh was CEO and Pearce was manager, and we had a board of part-time, non-executives, we largely gave them a very easy ride, when they deserved much more flak. The AGM's were very tame affairs, where we mostly sat and absorbed Mackintosh's bullshit and falsehoods.

That's why I got actively involved in setting up a Supporters Trust. We had quite a bit of interest but didn't really get the level of support I would have wanted or expected.

When on earth are we all going to remember that we are 'consumers' - not 'fans' to CFG? I love being able to watch some of the best players on the planet put on that Blue shirt and bring home the trophies, and I am very grateful to our owners for every penny of investment in the club and also into Manchester. On the whole, they have been good stewards of our Club.

BUT - CFG is a deeply commercial organisation, focused on delivering a post-oil income for AD. If that means joining a European Super League - they would do it (as they did, reluctant or not). If that means removing the front seats to put double sized electric hoardings - they will do it. If that comes to putting in more seats for half & half tourists - they will do it. If that means relocating fans to build an even bigger Tunnel Club - they will do it.

There are very few limits when it comes to creating income over the genuine fan experience. Very few of us will take our business elsewhere - we are a 'trapped' customer base - and they know it. Of course they 'try' - but - the motivation is just to keep us broadly compliant and turn up - not to delight us in the experience provided.
Every extra fan benefit is a cost.

And, if one day, for example, that meant kicking off a game at 4am to meet the demands of the Asian market - they would try and get away with it. Football is no longer 'ours'...and despite today's leaked new football charter from the Government...never will be ours again.

As for City Matters - other than the outstanding @Prestwich_Blue - its just a vanity forum to pretend there is genuine fan engagement.

You are not wrong about the AGM’s. They should have been called “An afternoon with Alistair Makintosh”.
