“City Matters” fan committee

It seems the majority of comments on here are dead against Id checks , also the discussion we had yesterday at the ground with fans we sit with and talk to are against id checks , surely the reps should listen to the fans and take this off the table ? Who actually suggested that id checked take place the reps or the club ?
Agreed, but who’s listening?

you are not allowed to question it, how dare you, you had your chance, there was an election, you had the chance to vote, you now have to accept everything.

I must say it seems slightly unedifying to see you ‘laugh out loud’ at restricting the freedoms of fellow supporters.

I’ve had to collect tickets at Sunderland twice because our useless Ticket Office. And one time I ordered six tickets and only realised on the day of the game we only had five, that cost me £48.
I had to get two duplicates for Chelsea last year, that took over an hour, not fifteeen minutes.
  1. The fifteen minutes you quote are my fifteen minutes and are not within yours, or the club’s, to steal. My fifteen minutes in the pub or with my wife are worth more than anything you or the club could gift.
  2. As someone who attends a lot more away games than the average fan I’m more likely to to be checked than you or others, law of averages.
  3. Going off the shambles at Celtic, Paris and Bucharest it will take much more than 15 minutes and is an inconvenience I could do without
  4. What right have you to suggest that I should be made to carry an ID and be checked anyway? Carrying ID is not a legal requirement in this country. Something that would stick in the throat of your forefathers as much as it does me.
  5. You haven’t mentioned whether this will be for everyone. What about other groups will be doing this, or just the plebs as usual?
When you buy a ticket you implicitly agree to be bound by the rules that pertain to that purchase, like every other ticket you buy. The club have openly said to us that they don’t want another Glasgow shambles. You appear to be broadly supportive of the concept of people buying tickets that they’re going to use, but some people will still buy tickets to pass on.

In fact the rationale for the 18-25 ballot (and they’ll probably be the group disproportionately checked) is that the anecdotal evidence we had suggested that many in this group were getting tickets from their dads/uncles/dads or uncles’ mates/their mates etc. So they would be the ones most affected as a group.

Plus I doubt the club (who were most keen on the ID check idea) probably wouldn’t run these at games like next week’s, where they’ve gone to low points. I’d also say that if the checks weren’t picking up any or many abuses over the course of a season then I’d support dropping them.

LOL. You make it sound like you're being asked to take a day off to pick up your ticket. We're talking about a maximum of 200 people so the chances are you might have to pick up your ticket once a season, for which you might have to leave the pub to get to the ground 15 minutes early. I had to pick up a duplicate at Sunderland once. We parked up, I picked up the ticket at their ticket office then went to the pub, ticket in hand.

I was just going to post this.

Was the ID check the clubs’s idea or did it come from the fans’ reps. If it’s the latter then do they really despise their own fans that much?

We should let point one run for a season and see what impact it has before inconveniencing the match goers.

So it's still not been answered wether the club have brought this idea in or our reps, also which has been asked will this apply to Corporate?

Personally don’t get the chance to do aways as I don’t normally meet the criteria. But having said that think the ID checks is wrong. Not a criticism of the committee though. Just think they are making decisions without engaging the fans they represent. But do wish you all good luck with it.

Mayo organises a coach. The coach will park up near the ground. What’s the problem? At some point everyone has to go to the ground. If you’ve got nothing to hide it won’t be a problem but it’s an indisputable fact there’s quite a few games that mayo31 is offering spares for on here. So how does he come by these?

I know for sure there’s more than a few hypocrites on here who regularly buy tickets on cards belonging to family or friends for mates who don’t have the points. I’ve personally witnessed a conversation between 4 people who had 10 tickets between them deciding who gets the other 6. It’s people like that you want to blame for this, not the CM committee, me or the club.

Prestwich blue - what have you done now?

The only game I have ever looked like not getting in in my years following City was the one in Grimsby where spencor prior scored. We re enacted a fake mugging scenario with one of my mates running from distance and pretending to pinch my ticket out of my hand all the in the view of a Manchester copper. The plan worked a treat as the copper distressed at my tears escorted me in free of charge just as spencer planted his header.

Some people need to chill out.
How do you get your tickets is it via the loyalty system or through corporate ?
If it's the latter will you mind picking it up ?
