“City Matters” fan committee

So we are going to have our free time invaded?

Will the ID checks be for everyone?

Marvellous isn’t it, we live in an age where football fans are already treated as second class citizens and now we have our ‘own’ reps limiting our free time at away games.
You work all week, look forward to an away game that you’ve paid for, including travel and a group of people decide you have to be herded and shepherded around because they can’t get a ticket for a game. Brilliant thinking as always, shit on the workers.
Corporate won’t be included, they can give their tickets to who they like.

There seems little point in buying an away ticket if you have no intention of going, hence point one seems to override the need for the third.
LOL. You make it sound like you're being asked to take a day off to pick up your ticket. We're talking about a maximum of 200 people so the chances are you might have to pick up your ticket once a season, for which you might have to leave the pub to get to the ground 15 minutes early. I had to pick up a duplicate at Sunderland once. We parked up, I picked up the ticket at their ticket office then went to the pub, ticket in hand.

Representing would be a start.
Representing what, they were elected and can’t represent everyones views, how would they canvas 60/ 70000 of us. Also I’m not sure how much influence you think they have, they can suggest and try and give their opions on what the club do, but in the end the club may or may not listen, City Matters wont be the only input they get, but the club will make any decisions in the end.

I must say it seems slightly unedifying to see you ‘laugh out loud’ at restricting the freedoms of fellow supporters.

I’ve had to collect tickets at Sunderland twice because our useless Ticket Office. And one time I ordered six tickets and only realised on the day of the game we only had five, that cost me £48.
I had to get two duplicates for Chelsea last year, that took over an hour, not fifteeen minutes.
  1. The fifteen minutes you quote are my fifteen minutes and are not within yours, or the club’s, to steal. My fifteen minutes in the pub or with my wife are worth more than anything you or the club could gift.
  2. As someone who attends a lot more away games than the average fan I’m more likely to to be checked than you or others, law of averages.
  3. Going off the shambles at Celtic, Paris and Bucharest it will take much more than 15 minutes and is an inconvenience I could do without
  4. What right have you to suggest that I should be made to carry an ID and be checked anyway? Carrying ID is not a legal requirement in this country. Something that would stick in the throat of your forefathers as much as it does me.
  5. You haven’t mentioned whether this will be for everyone. What about other groups will be doing this, or just the plebs as usual?

i have no idea, all i see are a load of shite suggestions, that seem to alienate the away day match goers, then told the minutes are on the site, and that's your lot, what do you want me to do, agree with things i and many others disagree with.

It seems the majority of comments on here are dead against Id checks , also the discussion we had yesterday at the ground with fans we sit with and talk to are against id checks , surely the reps should listen to the fans and take this off the table ? Who actually suggested that id checked take place the reps or the club ?

Prestwich blue - what have you done now?

The only game I have ever looked like not getting in in my years following City was the one in Grimsby where spencor prior scored. We re enacted a fake mugging scenario with one of my mates running from distance and pretending to pinch my ticket out of my hand all the in the view of a Manchester copper. The plan worked a treat as the copper distressed at my tears escorted me in free of charge just as spencer planted his header.

Some people need to chill out.

Completely agree with you , why should I need to carry id when it’s not a legal requirement ?
And is this for all groups across the board ? In particular will the corporate allocation be asked to pick tickets up with id?

No, course not, but you said it was underhand and not tranparent but there was opoortunities for any of us to stand and as I remember a short list of 3 for us to vote for in each section. So whether we like what they do or not it was all fairly tranparent. When we get a vote in the next election then we can judge the current team on results but it’s early days we won’t know about any changes and how they work or don't until next season at the earliest.
