I hope so. Haven't seen many admitting their bad mistakes about Gundogan, Rodri, Bernardo, Cancelo...and Pep. Last December, after we drew with WBA, many wrote stupid and obnoxious things about Pep himself. How many of them admitted later they were idiots?
NO idea...I was critical of only one of those (gundogan) and stand by those criticisms as for a couple of seasons he was a passanger and it was only really last season we saw the best of him.....by his and Peps admission. Bernardo as previously stated ive always rated really highly...and Ive never ever questioned Pep

You can't have a balanced view of Grealish based on several games. Personally, I was very impressed with his performances for Villa last season and I'm very relaxed about his future at City: he's good enough to succeed. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. Time will tell. My opinion is that those critical of Grealish won't make a big mistake if they show some patience before judging his talent and ceiling.
As clearly stated...it aint based on a few games,,,its based on his time at Villa and also when I watch him for England...he is a good player but I dont think he will reach the heights of a KDB, or even Foden or Bernardo

Gundogan himself said he rated highly his performances at DM when he replaced Ferna in 18/19. And Pep has said similar things as well. Short memories.

The broad consensus on here was the combo of Gundogan and Rodri was terrible. How wrong was that, given that both played in our best performances in 19/20: United away (league cup), Real away and home, Liverpool home, etc.? As wrong as it gets.

Can't blame football fans tbh, most of them including me have very short time memory and recency bias clouding our judgment most of time.

it wasnt wrong.....it was terrible for quite a while.....this season it looks a lot better but against better teams when it was first done it as awful.....remember some of the games against the scousers in particular...we got completely overrun in midfield....Prem and Champs league.......
however it has looked a lot better since as both have hugely improved (esp Gundogan) but there is no way anyone can deny Gundogan was anything but ordinary for a season/season and a half when we first bought him.

Gundogan wasnt even close to Ferna as a DM when we first got him....and on his own now id say he couldnt do the job as well as a prime Ferna.....but that was the issue as well..the system was wrong and playing Gundo as a loan DM was innaffective

Never criticised rodri even though some of his earlier performances and even at times later performances were very average....I even compared him to a more mobile Gareth Barry at some point which for me is a huge compliment...his passing is better than Barry's to

However again both were new to the prem as well (like Bernardo)....Grealish isntand while he maybe new to the system(s), tactics, requirements etc he will need to improve to get to the levels some people are making him out to be.....

Ill ask you another question ...Did you think Beckham was the player everyone made him out to be ?(forget that he was a utd player and judge him on performances)....genuine question. The reason i ask this is that i didnt....a very good player...yes but not at the height everyone made him out to be and never was in my mind and would I have a prime Beckham in this city team (again forgetting he was ever a rag player)....my answer is no

Couldn't care less about Beckham. He was probably overrated. I do care about Grealish, though, because he's a City player. And I think he's a Pep player in terms of technique, vision, flair...Pep didn't sign him because girls love him. Will need time to settle in, though, the step from Villa to City is really huge.

So many negative posts. We’re top of the table, so he can’t be doing that badly for the team

I’m predicting that within the next 12 months there will be loads of this to eat

I was asking about Beckham because I was trying to establish where the difference in what we see different in terms of quality as players...I never ever rated Bekham as highly as he was in this country....many did....and for me (at present) Im the same with Grealish. It has nothing to do with his profile off the pitch (I coulnt care less about that as long as he doesnt do something like Mendy!----potentially like he has).

For me i rate players like David Silva, Zola, Bergkamp, Henry, Aguero etc much higher than the likes of Beckham and players of his type....those players are on a level or two above Beckham yet somehow he is placed in the same bracket as them?
Maybe its the interpritation of what is great is where we differ which is what I was getting at.
Grealsih is a good player...but he isnt great at the moment and Id argue he shouldnt be starting automatically when fit...could he be great?...yes but a lot of work to be done and he HAS to have the right attitude......does he? We have seen Pep already say something along the likes of needing to be braver in the box (or braver about getting into scoring positions) etc. he also certainly needs to improve his defensive side of his game as we saw what happened to Sane when he didnt/wouldnt.

I dont doubt the step up is huge between Villa and us...think grealish himself has already acknowledged this....something about having to play every 3 days and the importance of those matches every 3 days (or something similar he has said). He may need time to settle in (though he knows the prem and he aint a kid either so that can only be considered for so long).

our better performances have come without Grealish in the team however up to now....

As I've been saying to another poster, he is ok at present...nothing more.....there are a number of other players in isolation and as part of the team that are much more responsible for us being where we are at....Silva, Cancello, Rodri, Dias and Walker (unil his brain fart the other night)...id also say Jesus and Foden as well
