I feel like it's more lazy to say "oh he's gonna grow into the team like mahrez did" than to say he hasn't been good enough

I just don't see the similarities with mahrez.. when mahrez started here I saw a player capable of magic, I saw a player with a wicked left foot, I saw a player with incredible technique, but I also saw a player who failed to make the right runs, failed to place himself in the right position, failed to pick the right sort of tempo needed for the game we play at the right moment, a player that sometimes rushes and sometimes plays too slowly.

with jack.. I don't see anything! he's not a good dribbler, his passes are all backwards, he is not quick enough with his feet, his touch is wrong, his shooting's bad, he basically never produces moment of individual brilliance or magic, ever! in his 3 months he's done that once, in the first match vs leipzig. these are the prerequisites to being a manchester city player, these aren't the sort of things you learn from pep guardiola..

I just don't see the mahrez comparisons at all and i'd love for someone to correct me, i really wanna know what i'm missing.

Problem isn't in Grealish, problem is how Pep chooses to play him..

Today for example, there was perfect opportunity to play Jack as a LCM and check how he would cope with this role. Bernardo struggled a lot there with the ball and couldn't use spaces as with the left foot he is able to play wide only from that position..

Bernardo could have played False 9 or even RW, with Jesus playing a CF..

I think we could have seen a better game..

Jack's potential is huge, he is truly one of the best players in the world right now.. We just aren't using him properly..

He needs space, he needs ball, he needs runners behind and as a False9 or LW - he can't offer much.
But if you give him position he needs, then all the benefits will start to come..

But to question his skills or potential or level is ridiculous. We have a gem here <3
I don’t think you can claim he’s “one of the best players in the world right now” and if we need to change the team so much, in order to fit him in, then he isn’t the right piece at this moment in time. Detractors have a valid point there.

That said, he has the raw potential and the ability, and by all accounts is a good enough student of the game, that he should be able to adapt and find his place in the team - and be a valuable piece at that.

We’ve seen it before - next season is where we see whether his signing was the right move. I think it will be and I think he’ll kick on.

I'm not talking about the changes, I'm talking about Jack playing his true position..

It's like playing Rodri as a False9 or RCM / LCM and complaining that he isn't good enough :D Of course Rodri isn't good enough there and needs to play as a DM..

If you play Messi as LB - he won't be able to prove - why he is the best in the world.
Same applies to Jacky here..

There is only so far the "other players had slow starts as well" line can carry you, at some point you have to actually do something. Or at least look like you are trying to do something. Or at least threaten to look like you are trying to do something. At the moment he may as well not even be there.

He's got bags of talent, but needs to figure out how to actually use that in the system we play, at the moment he looks like he's got no idea what to do

Move our best player to accommodate this clown? Don’t be silly, he has talent, but fuck me, he so far off what we need currently. I’ve been critical but positive. But he’s going backwards..
