He looks stifled and out of ideas on the left wing. He received the ball today against Brentford and had nowhere to go. Reminds me of when sterling was out of form and would just get it and pass back from a wide left position. I hope he can find some better form and adapt to our system.

There is no one to move..

The only decent LCM we have right now is Gundogan, who has no backup..
Bernardo is shite there and Pep rarely plays Foden there as well..

And Gundogan always has some injury problems or situations..

So Jack could be an asset there..

I'm 99.999% sure that starting from the next season he will be playing there.. I don't think Pep bought him to play LW - when he had Foden and Sterling there.. It's illogical..

On the other hand we definitely needed replacement for David Silva starting from the last season and it was obvious that Gundogan needed replacement / backup as well, as he is turning 32 soon..

That's why club payed 100m, he is the future of our midfield :)

So, let's fasten the seatbelts like Pep says and enjoy Jack's development.. I don't understand all the negative comments here :(
I don't understand why you can't understand the "negative" comments. (I wouldn't describe them as negative either simply an assessment of what they're currently seeing) He's playing poorly, not only that, it's detrimental to the side, people are simply correctly pointing this out rather than choosing to ignore that, play mystic Meg and fast forward to a time where he might be useful for us instead.

All of what you said about his future may be 100% spot on, in which case we can all happily wax lyrical about him in 12/18 months but none of that matters here, this is the player performance section, a place to comment on current performances not a place to make predictions 12 months in advance.

Brentford played a back 6 at times and had 3 players Jack would have had to beat. Rather than losing possession he worked it back inside.

Being out left with 3 players on you isn’t his strengths and at Villa he never came up against that.

He also hasn’t played since Leeds so a bit rusty, although that’s obviously his own off the field activities to blame.

People wrote off Bernado, Mahrez, Rodri, Stones, Ake before and have been proven wrong. Youd have thought people would realise that and give Grealish a season to embed at least?

Here's all his goals for Villa:

The fact that the vast majority of these come from shots I can't see him even attempting for us right now tells me just how much within himself he's playing.

He's taking some heat tonight and rightfully so- it certainly wasn't a good showing from him, but who did play well? Foden was arguably our only good attacker. Brentford quite literally had all 11 players behind the ball. He immedietly looked better on the left. Foden is so good that he makes playing as a false 9 look easy and as we saw with Jack, it's not easy. I'm remaining patient with him and everyone should too.

OK, but if you see Ederson playing as a LW - you first of all ask why is he playing there and not criticize - for not being as good LW as good GK he is..

Context is more important than just the end result and people are concentrating on the result only, which is irrelevant if we don't consider the context first of all.

And context is that, Jack isn't playing the position he is good at..
False 9 ? Has he ever played there in Villa ?

LW ? he played deeper than that and creating chances for the attackers..

So when you have all the above mentioned information and still cry about "Jack being not that great against Brentford" - means that you just don't want to analyze the game better and be logical about it.
