Lol ok mate, doesn’t fit with your agenda, so Pep mustn’t be telling the truth

Lying bald sack of shit that he is, clearly bought a player for goals & assists, even tho his goals & assists weren’t great at his previous club because schfc told us all so

Great logic mate ;)

Have you ever perhsps considered that Pep thought maybe just maybe, he could improve on Grealish’s weaknesses, you know, likes he’s done with every player.

Pep can say what he likes in press conferences, it’s great that he defends undervote players. But his actions speak louder than words. And if he were as happy as you think he was with Grealish, he’d have played more than 5 minutes in the CL quarters and semis. He’d have not been glued to the bench at 0-2 down vs Villa.

Have you perhaps considered Pep was telling the truth, or do you think that the game is just about goals & assist & nothing to do with possession, movement, shape, body shape, closing down, control, first touch, being part of a team & part of a bigger picture, ie a plan to win a game of football?

His assists & goals haven’t increased from last season, yet he keeps on getting picked. Can you explain why you think this is if his output isn’t up to your exacting standards & what Pep wants from him?

It’s not me that’s talking horse shit buddy

He’s no
t exactly getting picked us he? He’s sharing minutes with a woefully out of form Mahrez. His direct senior competition has in the main left the club.
He’s miles behind Foden for his preferred position.

He was left out of the quarters and semi finals of the CL and remained on the bench when we needed 3 goals in 25 minutes.

These actions speak louder than positive spin in a press conference. Pep & Grealish himself will want better numbers, or he’ll be gone.

The games isn’t just about goals, but they’re pretty key. We could find countless players to be near and tidy.
To stay in this team he’ll need to be better, simple as that.

He’s played well of late, but his frailties are still there. He and Pep will certainly be working on them..

He gets us up the field better than any other player we have. He helps retain the ball and dominate. If it was only about his goals and assists, Pep would have dropped him consistently.

The graph in the tweet above shows that.

Two things:

1. His ball retention and progression are excellent. He relieves pressure, maximises control, and contributes significantly to the fluidity of a great team. His patient, measured play gives his teammates increased time and space to do what they're good at. His interplay with other players is getting better all the time, and as his confidence has grown he's been making more of his driving runs with the ball, and when he does that his strength and directness are exciting to watch and very effective in moving us up the pitch and ultimately leading to chances. Although he's scored some nice goals in his time, he's never been a prolific goalscorer and goals are far down on the list of what he brings to us. Besides, as long as the team is scoring and winning, it doesn't really matter where any individual goal is coming from.

2. He's ostensibly a forward, in a team that scores a whole load of goals. It's not unfair or unreasonable for fans to want him to be more of a goal threat - he clearly wants that too, and has spoken about it many times. He has a decent shot on him but probably doesn't shoot enough and when he does shoot his attempts often seem to be well-read by defences and goalkeepers, so he's probably signposting them too much. It's an area of his game he can and should work on, and while he's never going to turn into a striker, he should be able to modestly increase his goal tally.

Both can be (and I think are) true.

Can't agree more, excellent post

1 Friendly reminder this season we dropped points in 2 games facing non big 6 teams and Foden played LW in both games and did not perform well. It is not a dig on Foden but just remind... it seems not "miles behind". They offer different values.

2 You cannot find countless players to be neat and tidy. Otherwise why Utd still has not find them after spending $$$?
