A lot of truth in what your saying but Pep still loves individual flair and I would say encourages it.

KDB a clear example, KDB still takes risks with his passes, plays the percentage game and often loses the ball, does Pep try and stop him doing that? Not from what I see.

No,Kev is our heartbeat,he is allowed to play to his heart's content and quite often creates brilliance as a result.

That might very will be the reason others are under stricter instruction.One thing is certain......Grealish is not the same player he was at Villa.....clearly there are different camps of reasoning as to why that is the case.

Foden is 6/7 times the player for City than he is England. So much so that there’s english fans, journalists & Ex Pros that wouldn’t have Foden as an automatic pick.

Grealish has been awful for England. His career mediocre at Villa.

This was his big change and he’s not taking it. De Bruyne, Foden, Sane, Silva, Mahrez, all maverick’s of the game, all thrived under Pep. This idea that Pep is stunting him is as silly as all the other excuses put forwards.

Love the lad or not, fact is, he’s been a total disappointment. And I honestly like the lad.

Perhaps it’s just maybe time we didn’t blame the best manager in football history for Grealish being a pretty decent but ultimately limited footballer.

Simply not true. 90% of his games in England shirt he was very good and several times MOTM.

Great vs Belgium Iceland Romania Czech... Changed the game vs Germany twice. Excellent against Hungary home and away in WCQ. And so on. Perhaps only lukewarm disappointing one was against Italy but it was a very dead event given SG tried new tactics.

You are not an England fan perhaps. I watched every England game in the past 2 years at least twice and I know what I am talking about.

Grealish has been underwhelming but saying he has woeful football intelligence is plain wrong, he would be nowhere near this club if that was the case, that's a necessity here.

It's starting to come down to confidence and self belief and that's a worry, he is not the cocky, arrogant prick most of us thought he was, in fact I would say the opposite, he seems a decent, humble and somewhat sensitive guy and that may be that's the issue.

When Grealish is at his best he is angry, aggressive but for much of his time with us he looks passive and far too calm.

Lets hope he has a good solid WC and comes back in a positive manner because if he doesn't this could become a problem for all concerned.

I like jack and admire the city fans who stick up for him fair play but for me he just isn’t good enough to play in this team.
Good at carrying the ball in final 3rds and winning free kicks, but he can’t beat man, he hasn’t got a eye for goal and he can’t find a final pass.
I know goal contributions aren’t the be all of someone’s game, but I’ve seen a stat yesterday that he’s bottom of the pile of Englands attacking midfield options since he joined city and for someone who plays in a front 3 for this great team I’m sorry that isn’t good enough.

I really want Jack to do well but he was really poor yesterday. Poor decision making and no end product. He is clearly low on confidence and scared to take the same risks our other creative players do.

If his problem really is confidence - and that's what it looks like it is - then we hopefully have him working with a sports psychologist to get over that, and Pep and the rest of the coaching staff working very closely with him to make sure his instructions and what is and is no expected of him are crystal clear.

A lack of confidence is usually a temporary state, but something that's difficult to fix for yourself. The club has the means and resources to work on this with him and they're going to need to do so if this is going to work out long term.

When he's angry or pissed off or wound up, he's aggressive and dynamic (but still in control) and he looks several times the player he normally does. We need to find a way to tap into that more. I love his driving runs with the ball and want to see more of that, the way he uses his strength and balance to shield the ball and win us territory.

I do think he's tidy and reliable and a significant cog in our machine that helps keep everything ticking over, and he's a key aspect of our patient play to manoeuvre opponents out of shape. He certainly didn't have one of his best games yesterday but I think his general trajectory since he joined has been one of improvement.

Personally I'm not hugely fussed by an individual player's goal and assist numbers, as long as the team is scoring and winning and that player's contributing. But I do think the goal drought is feeding in to his confidence problem and it's becoming a thing for him, he's starting to think of himself as a player who doesn't score and that's affecting his decision-making negatively.

I don't think he was ever the maverick he was made out to be. He was always just following orders the best he could, it's just that his orders for Villa - and to some extent for England - seem to have been, "off you go, Jack, make something happen for us".

His instructions from Pep are clearly a lot more complex and I believe he's following them pretty well - if he wasn't, he wouldn't be getting anywhere near the game time he is. But of course there's room for improvement and I believe that he and the club will be working on that.

Not really trying to defend Grealish but if you watch Foden for most of the season when he’s on the left he’s hardly playing like a maverick when playing on the left. Case in point being at Anfield where he constantly refused to take on an old emergency fullback in Milner who 12 months previous he’d absolutely terrorised. Difficult to not think there must be something in it that they’re being told to retain possession at all costs even when one on one with defenders

He actually looked miles better than most when he came on against Italy a few weeks ago. He went roaming all over the pitch and was getting on the ball and committing defenders
