Played really well last night but it had a lot to do with how open Chelsea were, and how open the game was generally. Come Saturday Brentford will park the bus

True, but Brentford will also be forced into parking the bus because of our ball retention and midfield dominance, and that's very much counter productive as far as Jacks main strengths are concerned.

Grealish should start more big games that are likely to be as open as last night's against Chelsea.

Think we'd have come away with a different result at Anfield if he'd started. Same goes for Newcastle away.

if i'm being totally honest, last night's Jack vs Chelsea was the midfielder i thought we'd bought; aggressive, skillful, creative and a general menace. Perhaps he's struggled, perhaps City have shackled him, but i'd like to see more of this Grealish in the future.
100% agree. When Bernardo and Phillips came on Jack slipped inside of Palmer and it was vintage Villa Grealish. He's an attacking LCM, not a wide forward who plays on the touchline. If he stepped into Gundo's role he could explode for us. Then we could move for a Leao type of wide forward.

I think Jack can help break down that defensive wall if he mixes his game up as well as he did last night. What we can't have is the predictable pass inside or to Cancelo. Pep commented on that after the game. He needs to vary it. Engage the man, pop up in some different positions and cause extra numbers and drive at them. If Haaland's playing he can just draw the man in and look to feed him in. The main issue is that Cancelo won't be looking to run off Jack's shoulder into space because he also wants to cut inside. That little reverse blind pass to Gomez last night was genius and Gomez should have done more with it.

Almost feels like he is tailor made to play LCM from our old Centurian-style ways of Sane and Sterling on the wings holding the width and having two 10s play inside.

Imagine Sane LW and Grealish LCM, that would be very strong. I think Borges can perform that as well

Alternatively you can pair him with a left back to hold the width but it has to be a left-footed player. Cancelo does not work as its quite clear he will cut in and means we have no threat of the cross from the left.
