I love the bloke but going from Doku to him is such a contrast that he’s on to a losing battle from the moment he steps on the pitch.

He relies on players around him running so he can pass the ball rather than getting the ball and bullying his full back.

One is exciting, the other is methodical. Both effective but one better to watch than the other. Seeing both inside 90 minutes makes the difference even starker.
 
Do wonder whether he’s being asked to play within himself because he has got ability to take a man on and be assertive, he brings alot of balance to the team in that role he plays even if his own game and output suffers for it. His cameo today wasgood in the fact he brought a lot of control and slowed the game as was needed but would like to see him being more direct and causing the opposition problems
 
Feel for Jack as pep is asking something different from him than what he is.

He played well when he came on. Got stuck in worked hard & never gave the ball away.

Players have adapted and reinvent under Pep. He’s good at improving them but we need to see Grealish get on this season.

Going from Doku to Grealish is supposed to be a contrast and they will both be used at different times for different things. They aren’t the same player and never will be. Grealish gave us more control when were under pressure, maybe if Doku had stayed on we’d have got a third but could just as easily conceded and dropped points.

The thing with Jack is when you see him come more into the middle of the park with the ball, he actually glides past players quite easily, we've seen it before and at villa. it seems like he's much more comfortable going past a man in the middle of the pitch, I guess because his acceleration isn't great but once he gets going, he can shift a bit and use his control and body to fend off players.

I don't think he has the same confidence to do that out wide because you have to do your work in a very narrow space and with less time to get something off, which is why Doku looks more dangerous in that position.

Sometimes I think playing grealish out on the touchline is really not utilizing the things he actually does best.
 
Why is this "grealish is asked to be more cautious" line still being peddled when pep has repeatedly said he gives his wingers freedom to do whatever they feel?

Doku us tearing it up, giving us exactly what we've lacked out wide since the demise of sterling and foden is blossoming into the player we all knew he would be. We also have Bernardo and alvarez as options out there and maybe even Bobb. All those players can play anywhere across the front 3 behind haaland, Grealish only plays in one position which doesn't help him. We have better wide options this season, he won't get many games just playing it safe anymore he needs to perform and produce to first earn his place and then keep it. He either ups his game and we're better for it or he doesn't and he gets used to the bench
 
do you think he will do 5 goals, 5 assists (PL only)?

the way he refuses to make forward passes, crosses anymore, cant remember last time he made a proper shot in the league...

wonder if Doku goes to the right side at some point (maybe when KDb is back) or will stick around the left side
