I get why fans are annoyed, but the vast majority of footballers see representing their country as the pinnacle of their career.Aye that’s true, there’s also a saying that goes on the lines of don’t bite the hand that feeds you as well but then again that probably doesn’t matter once you’ve made it as a pro footballer
I don’t know how any City fan can defend this situation at this present moment, I really can’t mate
Grealish has won pretty much everything in club football, so he’ll want to win something with England to complete his career. Couple that with being dropped in the summer and I can see why he’s desperate to go.
Against this is the fact we’ve lost 3 in a row and have an injury crisis. That coupled with most fans being indifferent about England creates the animosity towards Grealish.
The timing of Grealish’s recovery is what has created this. Had he been fit 3 days earlier, he’d have played some part against Fulham and gone off to England with Pep’s blessing. Had he been fit 3 days later, then he wouldn’t have been called up at all.
Grealish has weighed up the options and seemingly has decided that annoying Pep isn’t as important as missing games for his country.
He’ll have to face whatever the consequences are in a few weeks.
