10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

That's a huge mirror moment there if I've ever seen one. You know your argument isn't actually helping Jack's case, right?
Grealish is an extremely talented player. And he played 70-80 percent of the matches since he arrived. Contributed big time to titles. How is there any comparison with Phil Jones of all people, who barely played in the last decade?

Most expensive player we’ve signed. Not scored in a year. Benched for the derby and comes on to put in a couple sub par corners…. I’m beyond having patience with him now

Can't entirely blame him

Look at what happened recently. Plays very well in midfield in the only game we've won in 11, dropped the next game. Plays again, dropped again.

Hard for him to get some momentum going.

Grealish is indeed an extremely talented player but the frustrating thing is he very rarely at his best exuding his talents.

He's never had an outstanding season at City,
even during the treble season. He is an elite level player that has never displayed any real confidence in shooting or even scoring. He occasionally has a couple of successive games when he performs well and his supporters flood forum with "this is the grealish we signed" etc However, he soon then returns to his standard level, with lack of end product, holding onto ball too long, travelling towards his own goal and looking for safe, easy or backward passes. To be fair to him, he has ran back and covered for the defence at times and made important tackles. Unfortunately, he is ultimately judged by his performances at other end of pitch, where his offensive contribution is average and more importantly, consistently average. Preseason he looked lean and fit and post's were positive, including the annual "think this will be his season" It never has and its not going to be, certainly in a season when the previously truly elite players around him KDB, Gundog and Silva are nowhere near their best. He is a decent player and similar to Maddison @ Spurs, will have a performance, once in a while, for both club and even country where virtually every pass/touch will come off.

He was definitely more exciting at Villa. Still think he could do something special if he can get a run of games
What we don’t get to see is what goes on behind the scenes. His performances are average most of the time or poor and I can only think that his training is not setting the world on fire either as Pep isn’t picking him. There must be a reason for this.
