Played very well last night and deserved the MOTM award. He plays well whenever he does get on the pitch tbh and has done ever since he came (understand I'm in the minority on that though). His performances have never actually been an issue for me (or for Pep). I just don't think his body is capable of sustaining itself for long enough for him to hold down a place. He gave every inch of himself during that treble run and he's been hurting for 18 months ever since. His off the field habits don't help - Sergio and Vinny both had to drastically change their diets and regimes to stave off muscle problems (Aguero: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/11/sergio-aguero-pasta-muscle-injuries-goals ... Vinny: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/nutrition/vincent-kompany-footballs-health-revolution-hardly-eat-meat) but I don't think Jack is likely to do that. I think this is what's annoyed Pep - the ability is there and his importance to our team is there but I'm not sure Jack has ever felt capable of going that extra step to make himself a genuine great.

I don't think so.

My point is that when he plays he's great. He's a naturally talented lad and his skillset suits us under Pep. He's just never been available for more than a month at a time since the summer of 2023.

You can't fail to like Jack after hearing that post match interview last night. The lad has a heart of gold and is a real genuine person. He like several other team members has had a difficult season, but last night and against Bournemouth he put in a real shift and I hope he plays on Sunday and scores another goal against those red bastards.

In fairness to Pep here he also started Jack at home to Real Madrid and it was all going well till he got injured. His lack of starts isnt just down to not being picked its also down to niggles/injuries. I too feel we are a better side with him in, I would prob start him on the left on Sunday as I think hes better than doku and he probably has too much competition for a central role(but on occasion should also play there).
Yes, he started a couple of big games but came off early after starting well. I think that put pause in Peps plans for him as he needed reliability in this tough period. Hopefully Jacks over his niggles and if he is I think we'll see a lot more of him.

Good appearance yesterday, but I just feel it's all come too late for Jack.

These appearances will be seen a way of getting him into the shop window and boost his value a bit.

If we get Wirtz, he will partner Foden in midfield and then you have to take into consideration Marmoush who at the moment is on the team sheet regardless because of his goal threat.

We then have Kovacic, Gundogan. One of which I think will be replaced.

The problem Jack has, likewise Bernardo, is both will likely be bench/rotation players next year and I don't see the club having two £300k a week footballers being that type of player at the club.

Grealish will be sold because he has resale value, Bernardo has one year left which I think he does to take him to 10 years at the club and he goes off in the sunset.

Shame because if we used Jack how we did yesterday more consistently this season, we very well may have been in a better position.

Agree it's too late for him here unless yesterday was a revelation for Pep and the club decide to move others on instead. Gundo may have already triggered his extension clause with the number of times he's played, so Kovacic should go (I'm slightly biased on him because I'm not enthused about seeing him wear the shirt again). Viana may start a big shake up to kick off the rebuild by getting de Bruyne, Bernardo and Stones/Ake of the wage bill.

My little one (5) wants his name on the back of a shirt. For that alone I hope he stays!

Personally hope he stays anyway, we play loads better when he's in the team - seeing him in the same team as Doku on Wednesday showed the difference. Doku had a mare (I like him but he's explosive, if that's not working in a game then he's anonymous) whereas Grealish can pick any pass out from anywhere as long as there's runners off the ball.

Agree with most of what you’re saying apart from i’m not sure i see Foden nailing down a central role. Particularly if we get a really creative player like Wirtz. Foden needed to show he could be that player this season and it’s just not happened. If anything i think Grealish could complement someone like Wirtz more. Obviously it seems like Pep doesn’t really see Grealish in the middle though so his future is looking bleak.
