10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

About that Villa game Pep changed the tactic HT and apparently it was not to pass to the left despite Grealish already got Cash on a yellow.

Rico came on at LB at HT and was inverted - Grealish was doing well, in part, due to space afforded by Gvardiol's movement and width. Villa were able to double up on him (plus we often take far too many touches to move it wide). Grealish always does better with an actual left-footed LB - he always looked like a passenger when Cancelo was his LB.

Grealish and Gvardiol have a pretty good understanding I think. It's partly to do with the opposing dominant feet but it's not only that because on plenty of occasions Grealish holds the width while Gvardiol drifts inside, which is the opposite of what their instinct based on their dominant feet will be.

The important thing is they're aware of each other and make sensible movements to give each other space.

Grealish and Cancelo would often try to take up the same positions.

I hope he leaves as part of the rebuild, can’t see his performances getting much better than what he’s shown since he’s been here.

He hasn’t scored a goal for us in over a calendar year and has about 1 or 2 assists this season.
The problem is walker needs to go stones needs to go and Grealish needs to go but we need the home grown quota so this is the only reason why he’ll stay as the other 2 need to go first
