10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

I didn't say that everyone was a miserable twat- you put that interpretation on my post.

I said there are certain posters who clearly take a great delight in criticising certain players with Grealish being one such player.

I personally don't care whether you agree with that or not, that is your prerogative, but I find it all a bit petty and distasteful from the same individuals time after time.

I had my say this morning and have kept away all day, but you chose to respond, hence this post.

Carry on wishing him gone, but until people with far more say than you or I decide to move him on, he will still be with us.

And for what it is worth, I think he deserves a run in midfield.

Over to the critics and haters.
I think he has made a useful contribution for short periods but overall his input has not proved to be significant. I would think he would be sold next summer if any reasonable offer is received. I tend to agree that he might have more to offer in midfield over the course of the season.

Then your eyes are not telling you the truth because over the course of a season he consistently creates a lot of chances. Maybe his bad games are not as bad as it seems to you.

I'd say Grealish creates less than Doku directly, but more indirectly, even though both are similar in their ability to get the ball into dangerous positions which teammates can exploit.
Neither of them are scoring near enough goals compared to others in recent memory playing similar positions. Even allowing for the fact that team performances may be on a downward trajectory our attacking midfielders/wingers are not putting the ball in the net and this is now a big problem.

Ive been clamouring for years that while his goal scoring is ass, he has been putting up elite chance creating in his time here.

Now he is 29, if an offer of say 50m comes in, I still think we should take it to add more money to the rebuild.

20-30m being quoted is kinda pointless, he is better as a squad player than that.

He probably should move into attacking midfield with how many old midfielders we will need to move on.

Find it mad how he always finds half a yard to get fouled but never half a yard to take a decent shot or get a cross in. He’s been great in some big games for us but he needs to contribute more goals and assists
He gets fouled precisely because he doesn't find half a yard

That’s not some spurious random statistic. Look at all the other names in the list; other than the surprises of Pereira/McNeil, everyone else is as you’d expect.

If we can just get Grealish fit, get him a good run of games in the team (for me it would be in attacking midfield) and our other players get their shooting boots on, and we will all have a different attitude towards him.
"Chances created" is rather vague.

If I give you a hospital pass and you decide to shoot from an unfavourable position because it's the best of a bad set of options, then presumably that's counted as a "chance created" regardless of the quality of that chance.

According to FotMob, the top 10 the most chances created in PL in 2024, which, in my view reflects more accurately in terms of overall performances so far, is:

(1) Palmer
(2) Saka
(3) Tielemans
(4) B Fernandes
(5) Kulusevski
(6) L Davis
(7) Gordon
(8) Bowen
(9) B Silva
(10) Pereira

It still amazes me how many defend grealish. I get his a likeable character if you are into that kind of thing but he hasn’t scored in over a year and this stat is dammning. If it where sterling or mahrez they would be hounded out the club by the same fans who defend grealish.

Let's be honest, it's all PR. Actors and sports men do it all the time. That's why I really don't give a fuck about all the nonsense involving sports men telling their media reps to call up the tabloids, so they can show the world how they developed their new friendship with someone terminally ill kid, after which they donate 5k to the hospital and then run off to their private jet to fly off to their 10k a night hotel with a 30k per night onlyfans model

Stats can still be very misleading no matter what source you use.
Yeah, that's why I believe Rashford is the best attacker in the world, I mean when you ignore those "misleading" stats, it's easy to see how he is head and shoulders the best in the league, right? I mean that's how this "ignoring the stats"game works, right? or are we only ignoring the stats when it comes to Jack?

He is one of the biggest flops in PL history. The amount of defenders he has is amazing. Imagine if it was Mahrez or Sterling barely scoring. The whole world is laughing about this „ possession“ bullshit people use to defend Grealish scorers. No one will pay 100M for a player just to keep the ball and have no output. In no damn system and in no damn position. He is getting outscored by our defenders. If he played for United, Arsenal, Spurs whoever you would create a thread like the „ ole at the wheel“ one and laugh yourself to death. Now that the whole team is playing bad there is no one to carry him. Giving him the #10 after Aguero has been a joke to me too.
