10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

Horses for courses and all that

Can't agree again sorry. I'm not a hater like some on here with Grealish but there does come a point where he's accountable for his own behaviour and performance. The fact that Doku and Savinho, junior signings who are supposed to be developing players, have forced him out of the team, says a lot about how he must be conducting himself in training.

He was incredible in the back half of the treble year and I'll always love him for that, but I'm tired of using that to defend him at this point. I fear we'll never see that player again.

Me neither. Jacks reaction to this will make or break him here, I would like to think he’ll pull his tripe out, but he could have simply thought he’d cracked it after the treble season. In that case, off he pops, we need hungry players.
I think he's done here. Pep seems to make similar comments about Jack every season - rinse and repeat

He was never a 100 million player, not even a 50 million player. He never had the numbers to play for a top team. We should sell him while he still has some value. We can get 30-35 million from him.
100% he never was it was an astronomical fee. Such poor judgement by the club considering they have walked away from many deals due to inflated fee’s.

I’ve wanted Grealish to be a success and he did have one season where he contributed really well but overall it’s been a struggle.

At this stage I think he has been afforded more than enough time and patience and it’s probably time to move on.

I don’t see him moving now but I reckon he will leave in the summer.

Not rocket science is it? He plays Grealish when he wants control
You know we have certain players like Kdb and Bernie and even Rodri who bring control and also score goals and assists? Like Gvardiol for fuck sake even contributes this things to the team. Since when do you have to sacrifice tangible contributions all in the name of "control"?

Pep just had his Pontius Pilate moment today, he basically washed his hands off this false narrative that he is some how responsible for Jack's overly careful style of play and some how certain posters on bluemoon are still insisting that Pep is the reason Jack plays this way.

I've been a big fan & supporter of Jack since he's been here but it's clear that he needs to go now, which will be best all round. If he is indeed on the lash too much, as some have suggested, then a change of scenery might be best for him. I have my doubts about those rumours tbh and think it's more of a hunger thing possibly related to his first child being born a few months ago.

The real shame is this season would have been his major opportunity to seize the creative burden for the team, with De Bruyne on his last legs and Phil also out of sorts. Looks like that shop has sailed for Jack now and he'll be a spurs player soon enough - if you could think of an identikit spurs player then this version of jack is probably it

I don't think Pep's said anything controversial. He's been hard on Jack, he's been kind to Jack and ultimately he's spot on. We need the player from the treble season who was reliable and performing consistently. There's been a collective drop in performances but Jack's not played a huge amount of football, he's not past it age-wise so he should be one who is stepping up and driving the team forward. A little bit of a kick is needed.

One of the reasons we bought Haaland was his profile. He wasn't an obvious fit for our style of play but he is a superstar and it has raised our profile world wide having him.

Grealish doesn't have the same draw internationally but when we bought him he was one of the most recognisable British players and a good fit for the team due to his technical ability. So we paid over the odds for him.
Looking at photos of him over the years he was a bit chubby at Villa then when he moved to us, he slimmed down due to our more professional and demanding environment. Maybe due to injuries, loss of form and him not having the elite mentality that players like Rodri, Bernardo, Erling have, his desire has eased off.
