10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

How anyone can honestly think Pep is not annoyed with him is beyond me, and I am a big Jack fan. Sounds like there might be one or two player problems. I hope Pep signs up for the rebuild and ships out those that don’t want to be here. His quote midweek about those players who want to follow, will follow. Go on Pep sign up and ship out those that don’t want to be here.
That’s the crux for me too mate, I’m not digging out Jack, I like him. It’s just pretty obvious there’s some shit going on and at the end of the day City comes first for me come what may, players don’t last here when they irritate Pep.

"But mostly annoyed that he/our medical team didn't get the chance to tell England not to call him up?" wasnt a problem with stones who did not get called up and is injured?
I assume that the England team have the basic details of both injuries and didn't call up Stones because based on that information they don't think he'll be fit to play, and did call up Grealish because based on that information they do think he'll be fit to play.

Pep's not going to have a problem with England assuming John's injury rules him out without asking for more information or input from the club, because the outcome of that is John stays in the care of City's medical team, maximising his chances of speedy recovery (and John might be a bit annoyed to miss the call-up, but ultimately pretty secure in his place in future England squads, so not making a fuss about this one).

But Pep probably does have a problem with England assuming that Jack will be fit to play based on limited information and without seeking out further details from the club, because the outcome is the risk of an injury setback and he knows that, like most or maybe all of our players, Jack's not going to turn down a call-up if it comes.

So country before club then, manager will be pissed off as will a lot of fans

Grealish apparently listened to Pep in March and gave up his spot in that national call up.

Did not do him good did it?
I hadn't heard that. Could definitely be a source of some difficult conversations if Pep's understandably tried to convince him to skip the camp again.

Agree with this. When he’s had a hot streak Jacks been brilliant but these periods ebb and flow too much for me given the size of his fee. And despite the obvious control he offers we need more than 3 or 4 goals and a few assists a season from our wide players.
Jacks half way through his mega contract which runs till end season 2027. If he wants out then it will be on our terms and likely to be a chunky fee. I cant imagine the Spurs wage structure will easily accommodate his current terms.
Feels like big changes coming whether Pep goes or stays. Personally quite exited about this.

Pep's priority is City so of course he won't be happy but with his extensive management experience and having been a player himself he will know that country over club is more common than the reverse.

This is not a weird Jack Grealish quirk. Pretty much all of them want to represent their countries at every opportunity.

Yes for some bizarre reason

Is it just me or is the weirdest month since Pep arrived and possibly a time that we'll all look back as the major turning point?

Either the beginning of the end or the end of our concerns?

One thing's for certain
Pep isn't happy with anything surrounding Grealish at the moment.

When Jack Grealish transferred it was reported that one of the major reasons was to gain a better position in the national team. He was treated horribly by Southgate. Three seasons later we have not heard for once Pep said anything backing him against Southgate no matter he is in form or not. Pep did speak for Rico Foden and other England lads from time to time.

Harry Kane Declan Rice and even Kyle Walker plus many highly respected journalists spoke about their disapprove of dropping him from Euro squad. Anything from City camp? Nope. When Ben White was sent home by Southgate Arsenal publicly showed their support and stood firm against FA.

So of course Grealish will not turn his back onto Lee Carsley for his last camp and want to repay the trust and support Lee Carsley shows to him. At least Carsley does not treat him as an alcoholist with no evidence when he was nursing an injury like many posters on this thread.
