10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

I've been willing him to do well for City's and his own sake as he seems very likeable but at the derby his general lack of focus, indifference and the unprofessional attempts at something as basic as a corner were disturbing to me..

Surely he must know he's on corners beforehand and he's got all week to practice them.Even if he's not in great form there's an opportunity to practice landing it on a square inch and create something.
But no probably got other priorities like endorsements

Rightly or wrongly feel he is burning his bridges now and saddens me to say so.
No. To make you feel better, He is not on the corners. It is the first time Grealish took corners for City ever since 2 months ago vs Wolves. And he only took corners for 3 times before this game. Apparently it did not work. I will be very surprised if there is any meaningful corner kick practice in the training. We even kicked the ball directly out of touchline in the 1st half. But looking back it is certainly better than hitting the first man.

PS: really really sh*t corners

If he improves the chances of us getting the ball in dangerous areas to score and prevents the opponents from doing the same… why, from our own corner, did he refuse to go forwards and instead passed back, inviting pressure onto Walker and Nunes, two players that cannot handle that pressure, leading to errors and a goal conceded? Because that sounds awfully like your theory is nonsense.
You make it sound like Grealish passed directly to Walker and Nunes. That is what Arsenal Henry trying to plant in your mind.

Fact is that Grealish passed to Foden who was asking for ball and in a good position and space. Foden determined to pass to Walker and directed him to pass to Nunes.

I dont think either Grealish or Foden wrong here. Josko and Kova were already making their ways to their defending positions. Nunes has plenty of space and he was asking for the ball.

The biggest issue from the above pictures is that we committed three players into the box and Jack crossed it(badly). Just said everything about the stand off-ish shite that we have been playing recently.

Good first half, then we didn't pass to him for half an hour. Lost his head after that.

I don't blame the guy, he's a good lad and he's contributed. But how do you sign a player for £100m without seemingly any plan to get the best out of him? We've used him like a squad player, not a guy that we broke the transfer record for. If you're spending that kind of money on a player you need to build your side around him, and we've never even come close to doing that.

Garbage. Villa intentionally allowed him to have as much of the ball as he wanted because they didn't see any threat coming from him and he proved them entirely correct. You'll never see a side intentionally give that amount of space to say a Salah or Saka ot even Rogers. And if they did, they'd be punished heavily. That's got to be the single most damning thing to happen to him.

We had 70% of the ball first half, he must have had close to 70% of our total possession himself and from all that we got a weak as piss shot straight at the keeper and a shot that went out for a throw...

He’s just very limited, neat and tidy but is never ever going to go past a defender and his crossing and shooting/ scoring is just poor
