Would a villa return not be on the cards?
If you think Unsi Emery is going to entertain Jack the Lad, I think you’re mistaken.

He needs to buckle down and do the business EVERY DAY IN TRAINING and take care of himself off the field. It’s not hard for an adult with a loud ticking clock counting down their career!

I'll drink to that.

Emery just signed Rashford who, by his own manager's admission, had been doing fuck-all in training and is regularly seen out and about

Performing well by what standards? Having a go at Pep for a player who contributes little or nothing is insane. Some of you here really need to have your heads examined. What the fuck
I hope he goes in the summer.

I don't understand why we signed a player for a ridiculous amount of money who was literally known as a bit of a lad
We then played him out of position, coached out of him the things he was good at such as going past people, and are now subsequently stuck with a player that is fucking about off the pitch and isn't what we need on the pitch. He is also now a drain on our financial resources.

What we need right now is actually Jack's original skill set before we fucked about with him.

Actually beggers belief.

They play the same position too. So why would he go for Grealish now? Especially when rashford at least knows how to score?

I’m surprised he hasn’t been given another go in centre midfield. I’m confident he can offer the team a stop gap in that area until the summer.
And I can see him doing decent defensive cover dropping back in this formation
Erling-Omar
Foden-Jack-KDB
Nico

Took him on basically a free loan to fill a hole in his squad, and he doesn’t bring the “Our Jack, the Prodigal Son returns” roadshow with him!

THIS^^^

To me, it screams of Txiki convincing Pep that he was an answer to a question we can’t fathom, OR Pep thought he could ADD structure to his game without removing the flair and ability to be a game changer.

Either way, it has been a complete failure from the point of view of spending £100M, plus £15M/yr, on an attacking threat!

Understand pep may not like his off field antics but tbf are they worse than Walkers and we let him be captain. I don’t think Grealish ever lets us down when he plays either. In fact I think we always look better with him in the side

I'm hoping that Jack never leaves because this thread is a great source of entertainment. :)
I think people will still be arguing about him when he’s long gone from City.

Can you imagine what it would be like on here if he moves on and starts turning in some top performances? It would be absolute carnage!

I like how they both always played as LW. Where is thus attacking mid coming from? When Grealish played on the left wing all his life?
There is position on the field, and there is role in the team. Grealish’s role in the team, certainly at City, has been to be involved in the buildup, and maintain and circulate possession. That is the job of an attacking midfielder, albeit one playing off the left touchline

Rashford, conversely, is a forward player who operates cutting in from the left. His job is to score goals. He has also played in a more central role upfront many times, including the majority of the 22/23 season when he scored 30 goals in all competitions

Who is this “we” of whom you speak?

As for Grealish making us look better, I’m not sure. Tbh, Grealish and Foden have both been absolute dogshit for most of the year, but Pep’s “team” is really a “system,” and when the system breaks down, the whole thing looks broken.

The players only look good when they have passing options and the movement is positive. Any time there are no options, or only marginal options, we give the ball away and we are just not a good team without the ball and with the opposition in our own half.

Pep’s system is “we have the ball and we are camped in their half…now, world class players, do your thing!”
